This laboratory was a research facility looking into the development of Smart Materials to convert radiation. It appears to have suffered a catastrophic failure after the bombs fell. Perhaps
you heard the radio advertising new and exciting opportunities in this field of research?
As you enter, a robot asks whether you’re interested in becoming a researcher. Accept the position after a talk, if you wish. Take the orientation or ignore it. Enter the clean room, after which you’re sealed inside. You’re forced to complete either of the following objectives. Beware of Feral Ghouls.
Cambridge Polymer Labs (Miscellaneous)

Read messages on every terminal you come across. Progress through the labs, and locate the six unidentified samples. Return and place them (two at a time) on the Polymer Coating Applicator (terminal) to identify them:
- Unidentified Sample 11317: Hydrochloric Acid
- Unidentified Sample 3111: Lithium Hydride
- Unidentified Sample 413: Gallium
- Unidentified Sample 65: Tungsten
- Unidentified Sample 49: Cobalt
- Unidentified Sample 611: Gold
To reach lab C5, access the hole in the wall at the end of lab C4. To reach lab C3, hack the wall terminal (Expert), or climb up the ramp, go across the ceiling crawlspace, and drop down the third hole you find in the floor. There’s also a Holotape with the password for the radioactive containment area in lab C3.
Return to lab C5, and access the Isotope Containment Terminal (Novice). Open the door to the Isotope Containment Chamber. Enter the chamber and gather Isotope U-238.
Return to the Polymer Coating Applicator in lab C2. Place the isotope into the sample container. Then place Lithium Hydride and Gold into the chemical reagent slots. You receive a unique piece of Power Armor from the fabrication window.
The optional objective is completed at Bergman’s terminal (upper floor, lab C3).
Inform Molly of your success, or free yourself at Bergman’s terminal, and you can leave. To access the director’s room door (Master), find the key on Molly, or use extreme lockpicking competence.
