Prelude: A Vain Presence on the Terraqueous Globe
Back at the Cabot House, Jack’s aged mother Wilhelmina makes an appearance, worried about her daughter, Emogene. Edward reckons she liked to hang out at the Third Rail in Goodneighbor.
Head inside the Third Rail. Speak to Whitechapel Charlie at the bar, asking about Emogene. He directs you to Magnolia. Ask her, and she brings in her friend Ham to confirm Emogene’s whereabouts; she’s taken up with a cult leader named Brother Thomas.
The cult operates out of the Charles View Amphitheater. Visit this place and speak with Brother Thomas.
He evades all of your questions. You can:
- Join the Pillars (his cult), shedding all of your clothing and equipment and giving it to him. Perhaps not the most tactically savvy of plans.
- (Advanced) Refuse to join his cult. Then sneak into his office and open the locked door.
- Refuse to join his cult. Then sneak behind and pickpocket the Amphitheater Key; unlock the door in the side office.
- Or gun down Brother Thomas and his cultists. Search his corpse for an Amphitheater Key. Use it on the door in his side office.
Behind the locked door is Emogene Cabot. She knows why you’re here. Speak with her, and she agrees to return.
Back at the Cabot House, tell Jack you’ve found Emogene. The joy is short-lived, however; there’s trouble at the asylum.
