While Vault 88 is considered a single settlement, it contains four separate Workshops. Unlocking the first Workshop grants control of the settlement, as well as a selection of new buildable items. Each additional Workshop you unlock expands Vault 88’s buildable area.
Fully unlocked, Vault 88 is a massive underground space with an impressive amount of scrap-able objects. It features an existing power source, a uniquely powerful water pump, and some hidden access points connected to adjacent neighborhoods.
It’s important to note that Vault 88 is littered with hostile creatures and radiation hazards. Ghouls, Molerats, Mirelurks, Radscorpions–even a legendary Deathclaw–can all be found within the confines of the settlement, and natural uranium deposits can be found throughout the area. However, once you’ve managed to purge the caves of all present threats, it stands as one of the Commonwealth’s most defensible settlements.
