The World’s Biggest Nuka-Cola Fan

This Side Quest becomes accessible once you encounter Sierra Petrovita, who is enthusiastically chatting to a Raider about the wonders of Nuka-Cola, for the first time. Sierra is usually found mid-way between The Parlor and Fizztop Grille, and the ideal opportunity to complete this quest is during Main Quest: The Grand Tour. Answer this Nuka-Cola fanatic however you wish, with an optional Speech (Easy) answer when she asks if you’ve heard of her Nuka-Cola Museum, and then wonders whether you’d like a tour. Agree to begin the tour.

Sierra wanders through to point out Fizztop Grille, then strolls over to the Nuka-Cade, then wanders to the Parlor, saunters across to Cappy’s Café, then through the doors to the entrance plaza, offering a “fascinating” history of each locale. Speak to Sierra again, and she tells you the Cappy Glasses she’s wearing aren’t just ordinary, as well as chatting about John-Caleb Bradberton: the guy who invented Nuka-Cola! Apparently, the glasses can reveal special Cappy images across the park, and finding all ten unlocks Bradberton’s office, and a possible formula for Nuka-Cola! Sierra reckons Bradberton made a host of other inventions; you can have them all while Sierra wants that recipe. Agree to help, and you’re given her Cappy Glasses and the Hidden Cappy Contest Hints Holotape. Your hunt begins now!

A Refreshing Hidden Cappy Hunt:

#1: Nuka-Town USA: “G”

Head out of the arcade street, with the Nuka-Cade on your left, so Fizztop Grille is seen ahead in the distance. Turn left, heading northwest towards the restroom (with the two red spires). The Cappy is on the tall wall to the left of the restrooms, by the scrub grass.

#2: Galactic Zone: “S”

Head to Starport Nuka, moving around the left side of the circular structure, to the “Employees Only” gate on the ground level. The Cappy is on the same small section of wall as the sign.

#3: Galactic Zone: “R”

Remain in the Galactic Zone and climb the exterior steps to the right of Starport Nuka, moving toward the upper entrance to the Spacewalk exhibit. Ignore this entrance and look to the left. The Cappy is on the wall between a bench and two trash cans.

#4: Dry Rock Gulch: “E”

Enter Dry Rock Gulch, and speak to either of the Protectron sheriffs to begin Main Quest: High Noon at the Gulch. Then visit the small cemetery further into this zone, checking behind a gravestone near the south wall of the cemetery. The Cappy is on the back of the gravestone.

#5: Dry Rock Gulch: “H”

Now complete parts of Main Quest: High Noon at the Gulch, until you receive the key that opens Mad Mulligan’s Minecart Coaster. Unlock the entrance and enter the mine, weaving through the mine tunnel to the larger chamber with a hut and waterfall. The Cappy is on the side of the hut.

#6: Kiddie Kingdom: “I”

Inside this zone, move to the King Cola’s Castle entrance, but don’t head up there. Instead, turn left (west), and locate the ruined tower. Climb to the top using the interior staircase. The Cappy is on an interior wall at the top of the steps, in the ruins of the attic roof.

#7: Kiddie Kingdom: “F”

The second Kiddie Kingdom Cappy is inside the Fun House. Head inside, maneuvering through into the spiral room, the upside-down room, and into the final spinning chamber. Access the door immediately left (northwest) of the one you entered. Behind this red door is a small wallpapered alcove with Cappy on the wall.

#8: Safari Adventure: “N”

Enter this zone and head for the Primate building with the gorilla statue outside. Don’t enter the building, but instead maneuver behind the gorilla statue, to find the Cappy image on the statue’s base, to the rear of the gorilla.

#9: Safari Adventure: “E”

Now head into the Cappy Treehouse maze, inside Safari Adventure. Turn right (east), right again (south), turn left and weave eastwards to a brick wall with the Cappy on it.

#10: World of Refreshment: “R”

North of Kiddie Kingdom, head to the exterior of the bottling plant, drop down into the Nuka-Cola Quantum river, accessing the World of Refreshement this way, and quickly follow the river to the wild-western village area. On your left are three cacti; step onto the left bank at the third cactus, and check the adjacent building wall (facing south) for the Cappy.

Getting A-Head With Bradberton

After you find and give the contest information to Sierra, she solves the elementary puzzle, and you can enter the word “REFRESHING” in the keypad to Bradberton’s Office, which is adjacent to where Sierra is standing. Enter the office.

Head upstairs, gazing at the Nuka-Cola items, and when you reach the desk with the terminal on it, check behind the Nuka-Cola machine in the northwest corner. There’s a button hidden on it; press the button and a bookcase shifts, revealing a hidden elevator door near the stairwell! Enter and descend using the elevator.

It seems Bradberton created a mini-vault; head through the door to a rather grand-looking foyer, with some pristine Nuka-Cola valuables. But of greater interest is the head in the jar ahead of you; it belongs to the still-living John-Caleb Bradberton! Answer Bradberton as you wish, who tells you about Project Cobalt. At the end of the conversation, Bradberton pleads with you to end his torment and shut off the power to his life-support system. Naturally, Sierra wants him to stay alive, and protests this plan. Time to pick a side. You can:

  • Move to the wall panel to the right side of Bradberton and shut down the power. A nearby vault door opens, allowing you to gather a Nuka-Nuke Launcher with ammunition, various types of Nuka-Cola, the formula for Nuka-Cola itself, and a key to the man’s office vault. Give the formula to a despondent Sierra if you wish; she gives you a Caps reward.
  • Move to speak to Sierra and agree to keep Bradberton alive. She excitedly keeps Bradberton company, and offers a limited-edition Nuka-World Jumpsuit as your reward.
  • Or, you can side with Sierra to start with, wait until she gives you the jumpsuit, then switch off the power. Sierra becomes hostile after this, so clear out Bradberton’s vault quickly and leave if you don’t want to kill her.

After your decision is made, the quest concludes.
