A New Client
Nick Valentine has a new case, and he could use a bit of help. Tune into Valentine’s Detective Agency Radio, listen to the broadcast, and travel back to Diamond City to speak with Ellie. Agree to help, then head out to the marked location and meet with the client.
Once you arrive at the Nakano Residence, enter the house and speak to Kenji. He wants you to find his missing daughter and bring her home. Ask whatever questions you feel are appropriate, and then agree to take the case.
The First Lead
You’ve accepted the case, but the Nakanos haven’t given you much to go on. Search Kasumi’s room for potential leads, or use your charm to extract additional information from Kenji and Rei.
If your conversation goes well, Rei Nakano points toward your next objective. Otherwise, head upstairs and search Kasumi’s room. You’ll find a few Holotapes detailing Kasumi’s recent projects, but the most valuable clue is the journal stashed behind the toolbox on Kasumi’s dresser. Read this document, then head back downstairs and investigate the nearby boathouse.
The boathouse contains a few important items, one of which is stashed in a locked safe. You can:
- Use a bobby pin to pick the safe’s lock (Expert).
- Read the note on the safe, and then search the picture frame on the nearby desk.
- Search the picture frame without reading Grandfather’s Note.
Once you’ve opened the safe, listen to Kasumi’s Final Holotape to learn her reasons for leaving home and her intended destination.
Return to the main house and report what you’ve learned to Kenji and Rei. Answer their questions until Kenji asks you to retrieve his daughter. Agree to continue the investigation, collect whatever fee you might have negotiated, and—when you’re ready—use Kenji’s boat to travel to Far Harbor.
