Only the Faithful
The Children of Atom have little patience for outsiders. Whether you’re legitimately interested in their beliefs or simply serving as Acadia’s emissary, you won’t be permitted inside the Nucleus until you’ve proved yourself worthy of joining their ranks. The first time you visit the Nucleus, wait for the Children to settle their internal dispute, introduce yourself to Grand Zealot Richter, and agree to join the Children of Atom.
Those who wish to join the Children of Atom must prove their worth by completing a sacred ritual. Listen to Richter’s instructions, then travel to Atom’s Spring and drink from flowing water. Within seconds, the water’s effects take hold. A Ghostly Figure appears and calls out to you. Follow this strange vision as it leads you to the nearby Children of Atom Shrine.
The Feral Ghouls lurking outside of the shrine are not part of your vision–vanquish these foul creatures and enter the small structure to find a Mother of Atom icon locked behind a set of security doors. The connected terminal can only be accessed with the correct passcode. Approach the Periodic Table of Elements hanging on the wall, and then examine the text scrawled across the nearby locker to receive the Shrine Password.
Shrine Password
Use the password to unlock the nearby terminal and open the shrine’s security doors. Collect the revealed icon, then return to the Nucleus to report your success to Grand Zealot Richter.
Mother Icon
The Grand Zealot didn’t expect you to return, but his surprise quickly gives way to curiosity. Answer his questions (and ask a few of your own, if you like), and then agree to join the Children of Atom. Your commitment is rewarded with access to the Nucleus and a set of robes befitting a follower of Atom.
