A Legendary Foe
This quest becomes available after you complete Far Harbor Quest: Hull Breach 3 and allow enough time for final touches to be placed on the Hull. The Mariner has made Far Harbor as safe as possible, but she has one piece of unfinished business on her mind. Rumor has it that a fierce beast known as the Red Death plagues the waters west of the Island. Not all locals believe the stories, but the Mariner is convinced they’re true, and she wants to rid the Island of this threat once and for all. She believes she knows where to find this legendary monster, and she wants you to meet her there.
If you’re willing to help, board Kenji Nakano’s boat and set a course for Red Death Island. When the boat reaches its destination, disembark and speak to the Mariner. Compared to the stories she grew up hearing, the reality of the Red Death is decidedly underwhelming. The Mariner doesn’t relish the idea of returning to Far Harbor with such laughable tale, and she’s willing to do whatever you think is best. Once you’ve decided how to handle the situation the Mariner gives you a unique garment meant to commemorate a much more adventurous outing.
Legend of the Harbor
After you receive the Mariner’s gift, vanquish the Red Death and sail back to Far Harbor. Meet the Mariner inside the town and wait for her to address the gathered crowd. When she finishes her story, speak to the Mariner to complete the quest.
