Welcome to Far Harbor
You arrive at Far Harbor to find Captain Avery and Alan Lee waiting on the pier. Step off of the boat and speak to the welcoming party until a nearby bell rings out. Avery promises to answer all of your questions if you help defend Far Harbor from the approaching danger. Follow her up to the hull and help defeat the hostile creatures that emerge from the fog.
Defeat all of the attacking Gulpers and Anglers, then speak to Captain Avery to receive some caps (around 275) for your help. Ask whatever questions you like about the situation in Far Harbor. When you’re ready to get back to business, Avery points you to Acadia and suggests that you speak with a local hunter named Old Longfellow. Finishing this conversation also triggers Far Harbor Quest: Living on the Edge.
A Tour of the Island
Although you’re free to venture out of Far Harbor on your own, Old Longfellow makes an excellent guide. Enter the Last Plank to find this veteran hunter at a table across the bar. A bit of charm might convince Old Longfellow to accept the job pro bono. Otherwise, you’ll need to bribe him with a bottle of whiskey (luckily, the nearby bartender keeps a few bottles on-hand).
Meet Old Longfellow outside of the Last Plank to receive a piece of Mirelurk Jerky. This simple gift can make the trip to Acadia a bit easier, but it also unlocks the recipe for Mirelurk Jerky at all cooking stations.
The journey to Acadia is far from safe. Stick close to Old Longfellow, and help him deal with the enemies and hostile creatures that lurk in the radioactive fog. Between skirmishes, listen to your guide to learn a little more about the Island and its inhabitants. Once you reach Acadia, talk to Old Longfellow to complete the quest and gain a new travelling companion.
