A Message of Mercy
Your recent vision may be the talk of the Nucleus, but Brother Devin has been dealing with one of his own. He firmly believes that Atom has instructed him to wait for a holy messenger–and that he must consume nothing but irradiated water until that messenger appears. The ordeal has taken a great toll on Brother Devin, and while most Children of Atom would celebrate such a show of devotion, Zealot Ware is more concerned with Devin’s wellbeing.
Zealot Ware has tried to convince Brother Devin to abandon his fast, but nothing has worked–and he’s hoping you’ll be able to succeed where he’s failed. If you’re willing, agree to help and head back toward the Nucleus’ entrance to speak with Brother Devin.
During your conversation, Brother Devin makes it clear that he won’t put an end to his fast until he’s visited by Atom’s messenger. If you’re confident in your powers of persuasion, you can attempt to convince Brother Devin that you are the messenger he’s been expecting. A successful attempt will convince Brother Devin to end his ordeal on the spot.
If your conversation with Brother Devin doesn’t put an end to his trial, report back to Zealot Ware to hear his next idea. The common belief is that a messenger of Atom would be faceless, dressed in tattered rags, and cloaked in an irradiated glow–Zealot Ware hopes the right costume just might convince Devin to listen to you. If you agree to his plan, Ware provides two apparel items he believes might work.

Once you’ve equipped the hood and robes, it’s time to acquire an irradiated glow. Zealot Ware suggests returning to Atom’s Spring, but any source of radiation will do. Stand near radioactive materials and/or consume irradiated food or drink to raise your radiation level above 75 percent. Once your disguise is ready, return to Brother Devin and convince him that his trial is over.
After Brother Devin abandons his fast, return to Zealot Ware and report your success. As promised, Zealot Ware gives you some of his rad-cleansing brew and the recipe required to make it. You also receive the promise of additional doses each time he finishes a fresh batch.
