Destiny 2 Guide › Strikes

Overview

Guardians may elect to complete one of the available Strikes, accessed from the Director once they are unlocked. This is a co-operative mission for three fireteam members that requires the assault on a particular enemy, the removal of consecutive enemy clusters, and possible Sub-Boss takedowns before a final confrontation with a tougher foe. Rewards include quality and Strike-specific loot.

Available Strikes

At launch, there are five available Strikes across all gaming platforms, located across four different Worlds. They unlock once the Vanguard mentors return to the Farm:

Nightfall Strikes

As you might expect, there are higher-difficulty variations of each available Strike, which are usually selected for availability (after game launch) by Bungie and may not be available to play on a consistent basis. Look for these missions, which may reward you with Exotic loot.

Enemies are usually tougher, and differing enemies may appear in clusters as you encounter them throughout the Nightfall Strike, compared to a usual Strike.

Strike Information: General Overview Access

The remainder of this chapter is devoted to the five Strikes and more precise knowledge of each set of encounters, along with tactics on completing each one. As the limitless variation of Nightfall modifiers may change the tactics significantly, utilize the following information based on the original Strikes. The information is here so you have a good overall understanding of when the most problematic foes are encountered, what general variations there might be, and “best-case” strategies.

Note that each section gives you general advice on whether to use your Super or your grenade Ability, the general differences between a Strike and its Nightfall version, and any weak point for the end-of-mission entity you face. As always, you may want to employ differing tactics depending on the specific situations presented to you.

Expect a number of modifiers that vary your game. Since Strike enemy groups are variable, you may witness completely different squads of enemies.

Nightfall Strikes have (usually) two modifiers that add an additional element of difficulty. Different tactics may be required in order to complete the Strike. Modifiers are chosen by Bungie each time a Nightfall Strike becomes active.
