Destiny 2 eGuide Curse of Osiris Campaign and Strikes

Tree of Probabilities (Campaign and Strike)

Recommended Power
  • Campaign: 220+
  • Strike: 140+
  • Heroic/Nightfall: 270+

Osiris needs your assistance in destroying Cabal caught in a recursive loop within the Infinite Forest.

Campaign and Strike Comparison

This section covers the Campaign and Strike versions of this mission. This mission can be replayed in the form of a Strike within the Strike playlists, or as a Meditation obtained from Ikora Rey at the Tower. The campaign version of this mission features a more manageable single-player experience. During the campaign, the enemies will all be Cabal, aside from enemies within the Infinite Forest. In Strike variants, you will experience greater challenges and varied enemies at each encounter. We’ve combined the Campaign version and the Strike version here to provide a base.

Objectives
Enemies Encountered
  • Expect Infinite Potentialities within the Infinite Forest
  • Cabal: Legionaries, Phalanx, Scorpius, Honored Colossus

Infinite Forest Entrance

Super: Optional (one player)

Grenades: Optional (one player)

There’s a plethora of Cabal Legionararies jet packing about. Shut them down. A few Phalanx soldiers will activate their shields,  shoot the middle of the shields to power them down. Bore through the meandering enemies surrounding the Vex arena. Once these are dealt with, there’s a Scorpius on either side of the arena perched upon a pillar. Quickly dismantle the Scorpius units with bullets. Legionaries will intercept Guardians along the way to the steps of the Infinite Forest gateway. Positioned directly at the gateway entrance are more Scorpius units to dismantle, accompanied by an Honored Colossus. The Colossus will have a few more Legionaires and Phalanx units to send into oily obliteration. Once these are all dealt with, the Cabal cage field will drop.

Campaign

Gates are unlocked during the campaign.

Simulant Present

Fields of Glass

Objectives
  • Eliminate hostiles
  • Mount up and move quickly
  • Find the Cabal leader
  • Find the map of the Infinite Forest
  • Defeat Valus Thuun
Enemies Encountered
  • Vex: Cyclopes, Hobgoblins, Goblins, Minotaurs, Harpies
  • Cabal: Legionaries, Psions, Colossus
  • BOSS: Valus Thuun

Eliminate the Enemies

Super: Optional (one player)

Grenades: Optional (one players)

There are a lot of initial enemies. They need to be eliminated. There are plenty of Vex structures to use for cover. There are the usual clusters of enemies. Once these are destroyed, head to the waypoint on the large ramp.

Mount Up and Move Quickly

Super: Optional (one player)

Grenades: Optional (one player)

Get on your Sparrow in order to cross the gap to the circular area. If you are so inclined, you can hop off to kill some Cabal and Vex for kicks, or you can drive by all of that.

Heading into the Vex tube pathway can be perilous. If you're undaunted, drive up the upper pathways and dodge lasers of death. Don’t let Amanda Holliday see this place. We wouldn’t want to give her any ideas now, would we?

Vex Construct Pathway

Super: Optional (all players)

Grenades: Optional (all players)

Varied Vex are blocking the pathway. These are of little consequence and should be easy to demolish. After the first few Goblins are two Hobgoblins– one low and one high on a block. Take these down before pressing the Harpies. There’s more than enough point–to–point cover. Groupings are so close together that guns with Dragonfly perks or even just an Auto Rifle are going to eat through the throngs of Vex. Prioritize Hobgoblins for an easier go of it. One fun thing to do here would be to shove Vex off the pathway using Tractor Cannon. You may want to hold onto grenades and Supers for the next part.

Defeat Valus Thuun CQC 1

Super: Recommended (one player)

Grenades: Recommended (one player)

Boss Weak Spot: Helmet, Jetpack

What an entrance! Wipe out the initial Legionaries, then jump down to face Thuun. Thuun has several attacks: Ground Pound, Flying Ground Pound, slug rounds, and high-impact kinetic blasts. Keep an eye out– he uses Ground Pound if a Guardian gets too close (if he’s not already commited to another type of attack). If you see him cock back his fist, it’s time to deliver a staggering blow quickly: use a Sword’s Guard or run. Guardians should fire on him if another Guardian is distracting him.

After a bit of time passes, more Legionaries come to reinforce Thuun. At this point Guardians have some solid cover to take these out. Once a good number of them are down, refocus on Thuun while picking off a couple more.

After a few moments, Psion snipers join. Don’t give them the chance to do damage. Take the Psions out before anything else.

Defeat Valus Thuun CQC 2

Thuul makes his escape to the next area while the Vex have returned, and with lasers. Take out the remaining Vex and Cabal, then move to the next area.

Open–Air Arena

Super: Recommended (all players)

Grenades: Recommended (all players)

It's easy to die in this next area if Thuun lands any punch that sends Guardians flying into the walls; and in this area Thuun begins to use his Flying Ground Pound, so keep a close eye on him. Additional enemies can flood the area quickly. Keep sharp and clear them out wholesale with grenades, Supers, etc. It’s best to clear these enemies when Thuun is well away from you, and with cover between you and him. One good roaming super can clear a lot of the enemies.

Sniping Psions will show up on the upper tier area. It’s best to have someone kill them off quickly, so everyone can focus on Thuun.

Open–Air Arena pt. 2

Super: Optional (one player)

Grenades: Optional (one player)

Thuun will depart the area. You are still in the same area, except a lot of new lasers have shown up. Get to the upper area to take out the Vex. Once the Minotaur is defeated, you can leave the area as well.

Pass through to the next area. Jump past the floating platforms and into the third large area.

Defeat Valus Thuun

Super: Recommended (all players)

Grenades: Recommended (all players)

Before you do anything else, defeat the Legionaries. Do not get between Thuun and the ledge. Try to keep your back to the while in case Thuun lands a hit that may launch you. If you aren’t paying attention, Thuun will punch you off the side. We recommend equipping a Sword to cancel the momentum mid-air. You can also use a Super to save yourself to cancel any of Thuuls knockback attacks.

Lasers activate fairly soon, so be aware of your surroundings. The lasers will not damage a Guardian while they are yellow, but once they’re fully red they can cause damage. Lasers will change position intermittently.

Keep track of Thuun and keep your back to a wall while doing damage. Keep moving then unload everything you have on Thuun, they should bring him down fairly quickly in this last area, (provided he doesn’t toss players off the platform). If you're killing Thuun during the Strike playlist, a chest will drop in the center of the platform.
