Repelling Three Assaults

Head up into the plaza, where Zavala is bravely fending off a Cabal Red Legion bombardment. Your objective immediately updates to defending the Tower with Zavala, and chaos descends. You must now engage the Cabal forces for a protracted battle. You must destroy more than 30 Legionaries in waves of four or five, while also facing periodic vicious bombardments from the carrier fleet in the skies above the earth.
Start by attacking the forces encroaching on Zavala’s position by executing them with headshots from the side before you reach the Vanguard leader. As soon as you’ve neutralized assault wave one, head to Zavala.
The waves of foes arrive both via jet-packing down from the ships and via drop pods. It’s less important to know where foes are landing; instead, concentrate on defeating them before they reach Zavala’s position.
- The first assault wave consists of around nine Legionaries.
- The second assault wave consists of around 15 Legionaries.
- The third and final assault wave consists of about 15 Legionaries.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or close to death, it’s likely because you’re standing or moving slowly, getting hit by the enemy ordnance. Instead, use the ruined pillars, your Movement Mode, the walls and roof of the main kiosk, balconies, upper ground, and the rubble to vary your position so foes can’t get a good targeting aim on you.
As soon as you hear Zavala shouting for you to get behind his protective shield (which he does twice during the battle), oblige him, or face heavy damage from a rocket bombardment from the Cabal ship. Stand inside Zavala’s protective shield until the bombardment subsides. After this, remain here to tag a few Legionaries in the head before moving out to engage the
larger numbers in the subsequent waves. Note that Zavala drops Orbs of Power each time he casts his Ward of Dawn shield; these help power up your Super, and should be gathered immediately.
To continue, you should move to the far right side of the plaza near the entrance to the Tower Boulevard where the Speaker resides.
Your weapon of choice here is the Kinetic Auto Rifle; it fires rapidly and gets the job done. Switch to a Sidearm, if you want. Grenades are also recommended, if you have one. The best time to throw one is just as a group of Legionaries is emerging from a drop pod, is landing, or is close to Zavala.
You can also launch your Super, usually for the first time. The Super you have depends on the Guardian class you chose for your character.
Once you’ve successfully defeated the third wave, you must rendezvous with Ikora in the northern part of the Tower. However, you can optionally cull more than a dozen Legionaries before you leave.
Head into the thoroughfare that leads to the northern part of the Tower, passing a Sweeperbot along the way.
