Destiny 2 eGuide Curse of Osiris

Infinite Forest

Overview

Mercury’s planetary core has been hollowed out by the Vex. The Vex have built a reality engine to test infinite probabilities in an attempt to find the most favorable outcome for the Vex. Guardians will pass through simulated stages. Each stage consists of varied platforms, enemies, and a gate that is either blue or red at the end of a platform.

It is not necessarily required to eliminate all foes if the gate is blue in order to pass through to the next platform. However, Guardians may find fighting through enemies good for completing challenges.

If the gate is red, it cannot be unlocked until all enemies that glow red (known as Daemons) are eliminated. Daemons will be a bit more difficult than other enemies. At the end of the sequence of platforms, Guardians enter a gateway into the Simulant Past, Present, or Future. Players must pass through the Infinite Forest to reach the end stages of Adventures, Missions, Strikes, and other activities.

Simulated Enemies

Each platform branch will feature one or two random factions of enemies. Sometimes enemies will be spamming splash damage types of weapons. Other times they’ll be hordes of relentless exploding enemies. At times, there will be opportunities to rush past a blue gate only to be met with a red gate locked by the presence of Daemons. If your fireteam is unfortunate enough, you’ll be flanked by two forces of enemies. Thankfully, enemies cannot leave their designated platforms. So, when things get tough there’s an avenue of retreat or rally point for regrouping the fireteam.

During Heroic Adventures, Heroic Strikes, or Nightfalls it is important to move through the Infinite Forest quickly, as the unknown nature of each platform may result in especially daunting variations. If a fireteam is stuck at a red-gated platform, the team can search prior blue-gated platforms for orange-bar enemies that may drop Power ammo.

It is recommended to bring crowd-control types of weapons or weapons useful in taking down shielded enemies quickly. A few rockets as a first volley into a crowded platform will make the rest of the platform all the easier. Roaming Supers, such as the Arcstrider, Stormcaller, or Sunbreaker, will also be a great tool for generating Orbs of LIght and moving through crowded platforms quickly.

If your team is confronted with a platform with nothing but exploding enemies, don’t skip it if anyone is low on ammo. They’re likely to bunch up and will be easy enough to wipe out. It’s a good opportunity for easy ammo.

Many platforms allow for a lot of verticality. Use the high ground advantage to work on troubling platforms. A lot of enemies will have difficulty hitting you and your team.

Typically, Daemons closely resemble mini-bosses. Guardians may also come across three barred Proxies, which will prove to be a bit more resilient than Daemons. Proxies function much like Daemons in that they need to be defeated before the gate can be opened. All team members will know they can progress when the feed says, “Forest pathway cleared”.

Resources

The Infinite Forest contains randomly placed Mercury resources (Simulation Seeds and Simulation Blooms) on the platforms. It’s not guaranteed to contain them, but some platforms contain one or two. Take these and give them to Brother Vance. If you should find one, let your team-mates know. There’s no point in letting them go to waste.
