Destiny 2 eGuide Director Nessus

Sunken Cavern

Sector Notes:

Enemy Clusters: Vex: 3

Material Nodes: Available

Scannable Objects: 2

Deep into the bowels of Nessus is a Sector with an understated name: the Sunken Cavern. This is actually three anti-gravity well islands with numerous floating rock and cubic formations surrounding each of them. The deepest Sector (aside from the Well of Giants), this is the most precarious of Sectors you’ll visit. That’s because of the sheer number of small platforms you need to correctly land on, or you’ll face a death plummet into the core of Nessus itself! There is an easily found entrance from Hallows and a lesser-known entrance to Exodus Black from here, but the real reason you’re here is to find a couple of scannable objects. One is hidden in an exceedingly cunning location!

Areas of Interest

Entrance from Hallows (Upper Northeast)

Head in from the subterranean tunnel linking Hallows to here, and you appear at the top of the glowing void. From here, you can use the Vex ledges or floating boulders to reach the other areas.

Vex Ledges (Upper North)

The safer way to reach the mid-level circular chamber is via a descent along the narrow jutting Vex block ledges.

Floating Boulders

This is a great way to fall to your death, but it’s also a reasonable method of improving your precision jumping. If you’re careful, you can reach the upper gold chamber or the mid-level circular chamber from here.

Upper Gold Chamber (Exit to Exodus Black)

Accessed via the floating boulders or the Vex catapult attached to the mid-level circular chamber (the one pointing to the upper entrance), expect a Vex presence in this circular room, with a tunnel exit on the eastern wall. This leads you to the Exodus Black Tunnels Sector.

Mid-Level Circular Chamber and Vex Altar

A cluster of Vex is present in this north-central circular chamber platform that has a smaller enclosed altar room attached to it. Use the pillars as cover or snipe from them. Note the two Vex catapults; use either to ascend to the Sector exit of your choosing (Hallows or Exodus Black).

Northwest Vex Ledges

Use these for a more careful, less “plummet-based” descent from the mid-level chamber. Note the Vex catapult that can deposit you back at the mid-level chamber, allowing for a quick exit.

Hovering Well (Exit to Well of Giants)

The lowest point in the Sunken Cavern is this large floating well section, with a series of sizable blocks to drop down in a clockwise maneuver to a Vex portal. The portal warps you to the Well of Giants, but not before you’ve looked around for a ludicrously positioned scannable object!

Enemy Clusters

Vex

There are a number of foes in the upper gold chamber and entrance tunnel to Exodus Black. Most worrisome is a Minotaur, but expect Goblins, Hobgoblins, and Harpies, too.

Vex

A sizable Vex presence guards the mid-level circular chamber. Expect the usual smattering of Goblins, Hobgoblins, Harpies, and a Minotaur.

Vex

The altar chamber has Goblins and Harpies for you to contend with.

Scannable Objects

In a tiny alcove, near one of the entrances. Don’t miss it!
It’s a shame you can’t float to this yellow Vex conduit near the portal.
