World Quest: The Exodus Black

The resting place of the Exodus Black and location of the A.I. Failsafe looks to be a dead end. But appearances can be deceiving. This expansive Sector of water surrounded by spacecraft wreckage, with a makeshift Fallen base to the northwest, has a few surprise exits that aren’t immediately obvious. When you enter from Glade of Echoes or land here from Orbit, be sure to check the Lost Sector, the (blocked) entrance to Prodromus Down (north), and most importantly, the narrow crag under a huge tree just east of the Fallen base. This leads to an underground tunnel area with the only portal to the Chamber of Sky, as well as a secondary entrance to the Sunken Cavern. If you plan on a deeper exploration of Nessus, this is a good place to start.

Areas of Interest

Exit to Prodromus Down (Inaccessible)

This passageway is inaccessible, as an energy barrier prevents you from entering a giant trench-like area where the ship Prodromus has crash-landed. Enter this Sector, navigating its electrical fields, during Strike: Exodus Black.

Entrance to Exodus Black (Northwest)

The entrance to the doomed ship is under the giant circular canopy. Enter this to reach Failsafe and start the World Quest.

Fallen Base (Northeast)

Bisected by roads, there are two main base structures built from wreckage, where a large portion of the Fallen enemies is lurking. Note the numerous chests, scannable objects, and Secret Public Events that occur around these structures.

Tunnel Entrance (Northeast)

A large tree wraps its roots above this sunken entrance down into some narrow crags, which lead to a narrow tunnel interior.

Entrance to Chamber of Sky (Tunnel)

The tunnel widens to a cavern with Vex enemies in the vicinity. Choose to enter the Vex portal, and you’re transported to the Chamber of Sky. This is the only access point.

Entrance to Sunken Cavern (Tunnel)

This is the alternate entrance to and from the Sunken Cavern Sector (the other is via Hallows). Simply maneuver to the opposite end of the Tunnel area.

Lake and West Wreckage Zone

The middle of this map is a wide expanse of water dotted with wreckage and boulders that become more numerous as you head north and south along the western perimeter, where the Lost Sector entrance and a scannable object are. Expect periodic Fallen battles in this area.

Southeast Wreckage Zone

Fallen enemies lurk among the pathway and scattered wreckage along the southeastern side of this map. Note the scannable object at the southern end.

Exit to Glade of Echoes

The southern part of the map is a large thoroughfare that connects this Sector to Glade of Echoes. Feel free to use the elevated cylindrical chassis of a spacecraft as an alternate entrance when driving a Sparrow.

Lost Sectors

The Void

Enter the opening in the western perimeter wall to reach an underground block construction of Vex origin. This is now a Fallen base, complete with Dregs, Servitors, other infantry types, and a Fallen Captain across the bridge, which spans a bottomless void.

Adventures

Assault of Black

Begin this Adventure by locating the marker at the threshold of this Sector, at the southern entrance.

Region Chests

Region Chest 1

Check the collection of natural rock formations just north of the Fallen base.

Region Chest 2

This sits atop the very high flat rock plateau above and southeast of the Fallen base.

Region Chest 3

Check a narrow alcove in the northern edge of the main cavern, across from the Vex portal in the Tunnel area.

Landing Zone

Exodus Black LZ

Descend from Orbit and disembark on the top of a rock formation, close to the Fallen base and high rock plateau. Use this LZ if you need quick access to Failsafe.

Patrols

Exodus Black (7)

There are seven total Patrol beacons you can interact with in this Sector. Return to access any that aren’t active.

Public Events

Public Events (Full)

Servitor Resupply: This takes place in the central lake area. There are multiple waves of lesser Servitors and Fallen foes can overwhelm you if you aren’t careful.

Spire Integration: Vex are attempting to consolidate to this position. Simply hold off waves of Vex at the indicated spot. They are approaching from different directions (which appear around the indicated guide map area); to complete this event, defeat them all without letting the integrations total reach zero.

HVT #1: A Fallen Captain appears at one of the indicated guide map locations (1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, or 1E). Remove him at once!

Ambush: A Fallen Captain and a group of Fallen infantry are lurking among the rock formations north of the Fallen base. Defeat all of them!

Pike Gang: This event is easily concluded by eliminating these foes on vehicles.

Skirmish: The first battle features Fallen foes (Dregs, Vandals, Shanks, and a Captain) defending their base against an increased Vex presence (Goblins, Hobgoblins, Harpies, Minotaurs, and a Hydra) in the area shown.

Skirmish: This second battle (by the water’s edge) has Vex attacking Fallen forces from the south. Vex infantry teleport in, while Fallen descend from dropships. The full range of enemy types isn’t incoming for this Skirmish, making it slightly easier.

Fallen

The base itself has a fair number of Dregs, Vandals, and Shanks, along with the possibility of a Captain (especially if an ambush or High-Value Target is active).

Fallen

Mainly Shanks and Dregs guard the tree root entrance to the Tunnel.

Fallen

Expect periodic battles with lesser Fallen along the wreckage-strewn western edge. Shanks are common here.

Fallen

Expect Vandals, Dregs, and a Captain to be lurking from time to time in the southeastern wreckage zone.

Vex

If you want to face down Fanatics, Goblins, and a Minotaur, head into the Tunnel.

Scannable Objects

What’s inside this Fallen bag of tricks? Hanging closer to Failsafe than she thinks.
Small fuselage sections have more than just inaccessible cargo crates inside them.
A computer terminal, forgotten by the Fallen.
If you’re looking for a transmitter, it’s got to be on a high plateau, right?
The shape of a pot, in a small copse of saplings. Easy to find for those seeking “Adventure.”

Vendor

Failsafe

The slightly unhinged artificial intelligence of the Exodus Black could be considered an ally. She takes any Tokens you find across Nessus. Bring her these in groups of 10, five, or one. In return, you’ll receive an increase in your Reputation with her, allowing you to purchase unique Nessus armor and weaponry. Failsafe also decrypts engrams.

World Quest

The Exodus Black

Once certain prerequisites have been made, start this quest spanning much of the entirety of Nessus by speaking to Failsafe.
