Loadout Recommendations

Equipping a source of Void damage makes it easier to deal with the odd Minotaur, but damage type isn’t as great a concern as weapon type. While any weapon type can be useful during this Adventure, favor arms and Abilities that offer a good balance of range and impact.

When the Adventure starts, follow the objective marker to find a small group of Vex gathered in Spine Burrows. Soon after your arrival, these enemies vanish as a powerful Hydra (Tekton, Constructive Mind) appears in the area. Engage the Hydra, but avoid using special Abilities or Power Weapons—after taking a bit of damage, the Hydra becomes immune to all attacks.

Once the Hydra becomes immune to damage (watch for the enemy’s telltale white glow), a Vex assault force teleports into the area. You’ll face a mix of Goblins, Hobgoblins, Fanatics, and Minotaurs, so be ready for heavy resistance. Once you’ve defeated all of the Vex reinforcements, Tekton flees the area. Follow the objective markers to track the Hydra across the surface of Io.

The trail leads to the edge of a cliff. Wait for the small Vex cannon to materialize, and then jump into the device to launch yourself onto a small floating platform. Soon after you land, additional platforms appear around you. Jump along the available platforms, and approach the next objective marker.

Stand in the ring at the center of the platform to establish a connection with the Vex network. Once you’ve done so, stay put to protect the connection from enemy forces. Threats come from all sides, so use your motion tracker to locate newly arrived enemies.

Defend the platform until the connection is complete. Once this happens, any remaining hostiles teleport out of the area. Follow the objective marker to find a new Vex cannon at the edge of the platform. Jump into the device to launch yourself to a new cluster of platforms.

Follow the objective marker across the appearing platforms until you locate the elusive Hydra. Tekton’s rotating shield limits your offensive opportunities, so make the most of each opening. Favor high-impact weapons, and time your shots to slip through the gaps in the Hydra’s shield.

Once you’ve claimed around half of Tekton’s armor, Vex Fanatics start appearing on the platform. Use the motion tracker to monitor enemy movements, and use cover to avoid Tekton’s attacks as you deal with each new threat. Remember that defeated Fanatics explode, leaving a hazardous energy field on the ground. Try to take them out before they make it to the center of the platform.

At around 40 percent armor, the Hydra once again becomes immune to damage. Stop attacking, and scan the area for additional enemies. Within a few seconds, two Cyclopes materialize on nearby platforms. Eliminate both of these foes to put an end to Tekton’s damage immunity.

Emergency Cover

The platform’s lower level provides your best option for emergency cover. When you’re in serious danger, use the ramp at the edge of the platform to find a covered alcove. It’s a great spot to recover from heavy damage, but you should use it sparingly. Frequent retreats make it much more difficult to keep enemy forces in check.

Fanatics

Vex Fanatics continue to appear throughout the battle, and Harpies show up soon after the Cyclopes arrive. Monitor your radar and make frequent sweeps of the platform to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Once you’ve dealt with the Cyclopes, the battle enters its final phase. Keep the platform clear of enemies as you chip away at the Hydra’s armor. Once you’ve defeated Tekton, a Vex cannon appears at the corner of the platform. To complete the Adventure, simply use the device to return to solid ground.
