Lost Sectors are small subterranean secondary Sectors hidden within the topography of many larger Sectors. They appear in all four worlds but are predominantly in the European Dead Zone. Certain larger surface Sectors can have as many as three Lost Sectors, though many have none at all.

Expect short, violent confrontations inside a Lost Sector, with a major battle to finish.

With one exception, Lost Sectors offer a small exploratory activity. You venture into a series of interior chambers (usually caverns or underground rooms) and deal with a number of Combatant threats, as well as a “boss” or Elite enemy. The Elite holds the key to success, literally, as he enables you to unlock a Lost Sector Chest in which you can expect an impressive reward.

Look for this style of chest, which is only unlocked via a key you loot from the Elite.

You can then leave a Lost Sector the way you came in, or search for a possible exit close to the chamber where the chest was located. (Some Lost Sectors have alternate exits.) You can then leave the surface Sector, return, and enter the Lost Sector again, replaying the infiltration as many times as you want. However, your reward is significantly less impressive the second and subsequent times you open the Lost Sector Chest.

Lost Sectors have a number of enemies to worry about and are available from the very first time you begin exploring the EDZ and each subsequent world. Just locate the hidden entrance close to the insignia for that Sector, which is the clue to where each Lost Sector is.
