Mission Type: Heleus Assignment: Eos
Prerequisite: Land on Eos; return power to Site 1: Promise
Start Location: Eos
Unlocking: Examine the datapad at Site 1: Promise or enter within range of Site 2: Resilience.
Investigate Promise
Eos: Site 1: Promise
There are two ways to start this mission. If you’re a thorough explorer, it’s likely you’ll examine the datapad (1) at Site 1: Promise before heading to Site 2: Resilience. The datapad is on the lower level of the same building where you first meet Clancy Arquist. You discover from the datapad that something very wrong happened at the second outpost. This unlocks the quest.
Investigate Site 2: Resilience
At Site 2: Resilience (2), you discover that the original team on Eos was trying to complete a research project that would help them fight the kett, but they were unable to finish before the kett attacked. Desperate to ensure the research did not fall into kett hands, some of the engineers disassembled the project and hid the parts. By finding the parts of the project and returning them to Site 2, you can gain Research Data to spend in crafting. This is the tutorial quest for Research.
Enter the unlocked door on the first floor of this structure (3). When you do, SAM informs you that the doors were locked from the outside—to keep something inside. The console in the first room grants no access to the locked room inside. Enter the next room and follow the navpoint to the power terminal. Activate it to unlock the nearby door. Multiple doors open, releasing a Fiend from the building to run free outside.
Defeat the Kett
Besides releasing the Fiend, SAM informs you that whatever you did also alerted a now-inbound kett squad. We suggest exiting the building, locating the creature, and getting a scan of it before it’s destroyed (the Fiend disintegrates after it’s defeated, making a scan afterward impossible). Jump up to the rooftops to achieve the advantage of higher ground. Use your radar to track down the kett soldiers (such as the multiple Chosen and a couple of Anointed). Consider battling them first and avoiding the Fiend until the end, since the Fiend only spits acid within a limited range. Keep moving to avoid its attacks while eliminating the kett.
When you’re ready to attack the Fiend, assign your teammates to both attack it while you select some special ammo and unleash your combat, tech, or biotic powers each time they charge up. Use jet pack dash evades to avoid the Fiend’s rushing attacks. The creature goes down rather quickly with all three of you attacking it at once. Make sure all the enemies are gone by checking for red dots on your radar, and then start looking for the components.
Search Site 2 for the Secret Research Project
Enter the second floor of this Site 2 building (3) and interact with the console on the right side of the room. You discover the schematics for “Special Project Sigma,” but the parts are missing. Now you must find the parts, and the closest one is in the next room, deeper inside the building.
Recover the Three Components
First Component
In the building (4) with the console containing the secret project’s schematics, enter the back room and find the first component (5) on the floor.
Second Component
Find the second and next-closest component for the secret project on the south side of the lake beside Site 2: Resilience. The component (6) is between two broken pieces of a crashed shuttle beside the lake.
Third Component
Kett Research Center
The last component is in the kett research center (7) where you first meet Drack and hack a Remnant monolith in the Priority Ops storyline. Find the dead body for “Naming the Dead” in the same autopsy room that contains the final component, which must be picked up from a console near the open window.
Scan the Research Project
Site 2: Resilience
Return to Site 2: Resilience (2) and head to the same group of buildings where you found the research and the first component. This time enter the first-floor building (8) to find the project you must scan.
Just through the entryway of this building, locate a tall contraption on the right side of the room. Scan it to receive its data. It’s called the Adapted Initiative Core Tech. This completes the task and adds to the Viability of Eos.
