A proprietary technology developed by the Andromeda Initiative. Research for it was derived using technology salvaged from the geth along with software developed by the Salarian Special Tasks Group. In conjunction with a supercomputer (like a SAM implant), this omni-tool mounted scanner can accurately complete detailed surveys of an area. Extremely useful for forensics-based investigations.
Using the Scanner: Open the scanner by pressing the assigned button. Controls for scanning are displayed on your HUD beneath the scanning field. Objects and lifeforms highlighted orange within scanning range can be examined by SAM, who provides additional information to the right of the HUD.
Research Data: When scanning new lifeforms and tech, you may earn Research Data (RD). Data can be spent at a research center to unlock blueprints and augmentations for crafting. The amount of data you’ve accrued is displayed at the bottom of your scanner.
There are three types of Research Data:
- Milky Way: Data related to the colonists and their equipment.
- Alien: Data related to the various species discovered in Andromeda.
- Remnant: Data related to mysterious abandoned technology.
