Mass Effect: Andromeda Collector's Edition Guide › Secondary Ops

The Charlatan’s Charlatan

Mission Type: Heleus Assignment: Kadara

Prerequisite: Complete “The Collective Base”

Start Location: Kadara

Unlocking: Speak to Crux in the mission “The Collective Base”

Speak to Crux

Kadara: Draullir: Collective Base

Inside the Collective base (1) (during the quest “The Collective Base”), head to the top floor of the multi-story structure to speak to Crux. If the name Crux made you expect some kind of hulking monster, you’ll be as surprised as we were. Here in this dark cave you find a clean, attractive, human female.

Besides telling you that “Draullir” is angaran for “death caves,” she informs you that someone’s faking the Charlatan’s orders—giving bad intel, getting Collective recruits killed. She speculates that only the representatives have access to such high-level information, meaning the imposter is probably someone operating out of her base.

She tells you there was a drop point in Sulfur Springs, so the imposter should have a good amount of sulfur in their clothes. She needs your help finding this person. Footprints match that of a human or an asari. That’s all they have.

“The Collective Base” Ends and “The Charlatan’s Charlatan” Begins

After speaking to Crux, you finish “The Collective Base” quest, and in turn she gives you “The Charlatan’s Charlatan” quest during the same conversation. That mission starts now.

Scan Five Suspects

To weed out the imposter, Crux has asked you to scan those in her operation around the base in attempt to find someone covered in sulfur residue.

Carina

Carina (4), working in the garden behind the base, is scannable. The scan comes up negative.

Lynx

Find Lynx (5) on the ground near a support beam under the Collective Headquarters building. Her scan shows sulfur at slightly higher levels than normal, and she has chemical burns on her fingers and forearms. Keep scanning people.

Aquila

Scan Aquila (6), standing on the first-level catwalk on the back side of headquarters. His right arm is suffering a stress fracture, but nothing related to the case.

Octans

Find Octans (7) working inside the building on the first floor. His scan shows high levels of sulfur, but he’s a salarian.

Dorado

Head away from the base and explore the northern cave tunnel. Here you find a bunch of kennels full of Adhi. Scan them. You can also scan Dorado (8), the woman standing near the farthest kennel. Her scan shows higher-than-normal levels of sulfur in her clothing. She’s sweating, and her heart rate suggests high levels of stress. And she’s human.

Speak to Lynx and Dorado

This is very important (unless you want to draw out this quest longer than needed): When you talk to Dorado, make sure to say, “Whoa. Relax,” and then “Like the Sulfur Springs.” This reinforces the evidence you found on her. If you answer, “You’re completely loyal, huh?” she ends up running away when you talk to Crux again, forcing you to track her down. Now, return to Lynx (5), who’s still standing under the headquarters building. While talking with her, you learn she hasn’t left the caves for weeks.

Report Back to Crux

Return to Crux (3) and speak to her about Dorado. Again, if you selected the wrong conversation option when talking to Dorado, then at this point, Crux learns that Dorado is already on the run, and you need to catch her before she warns the Charlatan. Otherwise, if you’ve followed our advice, Crux detains her and thanks you. You earn a small amount of AVP and +2% Kadara Viability.

Worker Annoyance

Before you leave, hit the mysterious button where the salarian worker is standing (near the entrance to the jail cells below the base). Press the button repeatedly to listen to the salarian’s comments. Funny stuff.
