Certain Remnant consoles are locked via mini-game decryption puzzles. Like Sudoku, these puzzles test a player’s logic and deductive skills. The object of the game is to fill in the entire grid so that each row, column, and region (sub-grids marked with a distinct outline) contains all Remnant glyphs for that console; if there are four rows, then there are four glyphs for that console. Since each row/column/region needs to contain all glyphs, this means there can be no duplicates within those subsets.
Usually, a couple of glyphs are missing from the puzzle (indicated with a “?” on the grid), and the puzzle can’t be decrypted unless all glyphs are revealed. To reveal them, use the scanner to survey the surrounding area; connective wiring exposed with the scanner provides clues to where the glyph panels are located. Find and scan glyph panels to add them to the puzzle. SAM notifies you once all glyphs are found so you can activate the console and begin playing the Remnant Decryption Puzzle.
Remnant Decryption Keys can be used to bypass these puzzles; however, there are a select few that cannot be bypassed this way.
