Mass Effect: Andromeda Collector's Edition eGuide Game Mechanics Combat Concepts

Stats (Clarification of Terms)

The following is a compilation of attributes that can be modified by equipment and skills, in which their effects aren’t entirely obvious or aren’t thoroughly explained in the game’s tutorials.

Accuracy: Increased accuracy reduces the “spread range” of a firearm, making it more precise.

Damage Over Time: The value here is the damage applied per second while the effect is active. “Damage Over Time: 20” over “Duration: 5” means 100 total damage.

Damage Resistance: Damage resistance affects how much damage a character takes. Effective damage resistance is scaled and begins to diminish after a character builds over 100 DR. Additionally, damage resistance does not apply to shields. See Formulas and Calculations for details.

Force: This is the amount of physical displacement, “kick,” or “knockback” an attack or power inflicts.

Health and Shield Delay Reduction: Reduces the time it takes for health and shields to regenerate since you’ve taken damage.

Health Threshold: This is the amount of health the character must drop below before an effect is triggered.

Penetration Damage: Attacks with penetration damage can pierce cover, usually at a reduction of their normal damage.

Power Cost Shield Reduction: Reduces the cost of shields consumed for certain powers (such as Shield-Powered Lance, a Rank 6 upgrade)

Power Restoration and Defense: Affects the value of all sources of healing and buffs, as well as the effectiveness of protective powers like Backlash.

Radius: The amount of area an ability affects, in terms of meters. See the following screenshots for a visual representation of distance.

Recharge Speed: The speed at which powers recharge before becoming available for use again. Recharge speed is decreased when weapon encumbrance is increased.

Shotgun Pellet Spread Reduction: An increase in this stat causes shotgun fire to be focused in a smaller area, dealing more damage from farther distances.

Stability: A weapon’s resistance to recoil effects. Increased weapon stability means more accuracy while firing.
