While exploring this area (1) in northern Elaaden, you start experiencing mechanical issues with the Nomad. It slows down and sparks profusely, and after three attempts to keep going, it finally shuts down and refuses to budge.
Look Around for Signs of Life
When the Nomad stalls, you contact the Tempest to report the problem. Kallo’s diagnostic reports that there’s an issue with the thrusters, and he tells you to hang tight while they work on a solution.
Moments after you speak to Kallo, a man named Hardy calls you on comms and informs you that he has the part you’re looking for. If you’re wondering how he knows what part you need, well…you should be. He sends you a navpoint to his location (2)—not far from where you broke down, but a good distance on foot. Thank him for the help.
Speak with Hardy
Hoof it to Hardy’s camp (2). There, you discover he’s a scavenger, and your suspicions make sense. During the following conversation, Hardy blatantly admits to cheating other suckers.
Kill Hardy
There’s really no reason to negotiate with this scavenger. Choose answers such as “This is all too convenient” and “You’re the reason we’re stuck?” When he asks for money to fix the problem he caused, select “I’m just going to kill you.” As soon as the conversation ends, draw and eliminate Hardy.
Get the Part
Search the shipping crate to the right of where Hardy stood to retrieve the thruster for the Nomad.
Start up the Nomad
Run back through the desert and enter the Nomad (1) to install the part and complete this hapless quest. At least you earn some AVP and Elaaden Viability +2% for the inconvenience.thruster for the Nomad.
