Mass Effect: Andromeda Collector's Edition eGuide Secondary Ops

Jaal Ama Darav: Friend or Foe?

Mission Type: Allies and Relationships

Prerequisite: Mission 3, complete either “Helping Havarl’s Scientists” or “Stage a Rescue” on Voeld

Start Location: Tempest: Tech Lab

Unlocking: Talk to Jaal on the Tempest.

Speak to Jaal on the Tempest

Tempest

While gaining Evfra’s trust, you garnered the attention of the Roekaar, a cell of angaran fighters who hate all aliens. Jaal (1) has information about the Roekaar’s leader, Akksul. Travel to Havarl to investigate.

Find Thaldyr on Havarl

Head north from the landing zone to find Thaldyr’s home (2) in a narrow passage in the city walls. You face Remnant along the way—give them a nice warm Initiative welcome.

Defeat the Kett

When you reach the area around Thaldyr’s home, you likely run into some low-level kett opposition.

Enter Thaldyr’s Home

Enter the home at the navpoint and scan the angaran integrated tech node and crate. Find a container of goodies on the right side of the room.

Speak to Thaldyr

You find Jaal’s sister, Thaldyr, lying in a bed in the back of the room. Speak to her. She’s injured. Jaal notices the wounds are self-inflicted. She says that Akksul saved her, gave her a chance to live…and die on her own terms. She dies before your eyes. The only other person who can reach Akksul is the Moshae.

At this point, this mission goes on hold while you wait for Jaal to set up a meeting with the Moshae. You earn AVP. This mission continues after the Roekaar’s failed attack on Prodromos. Jaal then receives an email from Akksul.

Read Email from Akksul

Nexus

After the failed Roekaar attack on Prodromos (your outpost on Eos), read the email titled “Meeting with Akksul,” a message from Moshae Sjefa. The Moshae has arranged a meeting with you and Akksul in her laboratory on Aya.

Speak to the Moshae on Aya

AYA

On Aya, head to the Repository of History (3). You walk in during a conversation between Akksul and the Moshae. The Moshae explains that you saved her from the kett. Akksul mentions the Sloane Kelly incident, which you can comment on: “I’m different” or “Kadara is a bad example.” Either way, the outcome is the same. He asks if that’s why the krogan left, he compares you to the kett, and then he leaves the room in a huff and warns the Moshae not to believe you. He’ll have to warm up to you a bit.

The Moshae still asks you to help Akksul before you leave. SAM interrupts on comms to tell you there’s an emergency recording from Eos. Suvi asks you to come to the meeting room on the Tempest as soon as you can.

Access the Vidcon on the Tempest

Tempest: Meeting Room

Use the Vidcon interface (4) in the Tempest meeting room to access Suvi’s “Distress Call” that she’s forwarded to you. On the recording, August Bradley reports in from the Initiative Prodromos outpost on Eos, calling the Tempest specifically for assistance with hostiles. He asks for the Pathfinder, then ends the message.

Ask for more info, or be ready to go. Suvi reports that the orbital buoy isn’t showing any major traffic. She thinks Bradley’s forces have initiated a brown-out to make themselves less of a target. You tell her to keep the navpoint fresh and that you’ll be on the bridge soon.

Travel to Prodromos

Eos: Prodromos

You land directly in Prodromos (5)—no more Site 1 landings now that you have an outpost.

Speak to Bradley

Head through Prodromos on foot to the other side of the lake from the landing zone. Here you find Bradley (6) standing outside near the southernmost facility.

Ask him for answers. Bradley says his forces have staved off small raids but this one is different. He needs your help with the hostiles and tells you to head to Blackrock Tande. He transmits the navpoint for the signal.

Investigate Blackrock Tande

Check the navpoint on the map. Blackrock Tande (7) is past the kett base in the far northwest. Use a forward station for fast travel.

Defeat the Roekaar

When you reach the location marked by the navpoint, you end up in a battle with Roekaar around a Remnant site. Defeat them and loot.

Investigate the Roekaar Camp

After the battle, use the large console under the Remnant pillars. You tell SAM that this thing can call in dropships to precise locations. SAM figures the scout will drop a beacon in the middle of Prodromos, letting Akksul know exactly where to strike. You’re left with a choice: give the Roekaar the outpost, or set a decoy at the old sites. Of course, you try to save Prodromos. Bradley tells you the comms array at Site 2 is still intact. You can broadcast from there.

Go to Site 2: Resilience

Use a forward station to quickly reach Site 2: Resilience (8). You meet this objective as soon as you enter the Site 2 property.

Deploy the Beacon

Get to the top of the research station, following the navpoint to the communications array. Upload the Roekaar signal.

Defeat the Roekaar

Look toward the pond for a dropship that delivers a squad of Roekaar Raiders, Sharpshooters, and Saboteurs. It’s quite a fun battle. You face upwards of twenty enemies before all’s said and done.

Go to Site 1: Promise

Get in the Nomad and head north to Site 1 (9). Once you’re there, the Roekaar attack!

Defeat the Roekaar

Defeat the Roekaar and look for their Hydra. This battle is double the trouble of the last one. The Roekaar try to coax you out into the open. Use long-range attacks until their numbers dwindle.

Complete the battle to earn a good amount of AVP and Eos Viability +5%. The mission continues.

Return to Bradley in Prodromos

Head back to Bradley (6) in Prodromos. He’s in the same place where you left him. Not much of an adventurer, that one. Drive or fast travel there. Report to Bradley that the Roekaar attack is over. He thanks you. Give him a pat on the back through the rest of the conversation. You earn another solid chunk of AVP and another +5% Eos Viability.

Check Your Email

Tempest

After the Roekaar’s failed attack on Prodromos, Jaal receives a message from Akksul.

Play Akksul’s Message in the Meeting Room

Enter the meeting room and use the Vidcon (4). It turns into a conference call between you, Jaal, and Akksul. Akksul tears into Jaal for associating with “the human” (you). You can snap back at Akksul, or you can apologize for bringing him into this. Akksul is planning to do something reckless to lash out.
