Wildlife come in a few distinct flavors: there are insect-like crustaceans that aren’t too threatening, even in numbers, and there are much bigger threats, comparable to dinosaurs from Earth.
Generally, wildlife on their own aren’t particularly dangerous as you come across them out in the open. You can drive away from them in your Nomad, and they usually don’t protect vital objectives (although there are unique cases of this). In specific groupings and environments, some wildlife can cause headaches, especially on the lush planet of Havarl.
No special notes are required for handling these so-called “enemies.” Wildlife can be thought of as resources to hunt for your bio material collection.
Arknid (“Spitbug”)
Summary: The most trivial of critters. Spitbugs can simply be run over with the Nomad (there’s even a mission with this specific objective).
Bio Material: Soft Chitin
Creeper
SAM’s Analysis: Creepers seem to maintain and support Remnant hardware and systems. They make rounds, likely assessing system functionality.
Creepers are technically Remnant, but look like arachnids. They’re a minor nuisance at worst.
Drall
SAM’s Analysis: An oversized crab-like insect with an enormous, protruding headdress used for defense.
Summary: Drall can be found in swarms on Havarl. They’re more resilient than other critters and may actually penetrate your defenses if you’re overwhelmed.
Bio Material: Shell Filaments
Kaerkyn
Summary: Small arthropods commonly found on Eos. Although easily handled by Ryder and company, Kaerykn can rend and tear apart carcasses—such as those victim to war.
Bio Material: Shell Filaments
Shemrys
SAM’s Analysis: An oversized beetle-like insect with multiple feelers and a hard carapace. It spits an irritating digestive enzyme.
Bio Material: Soft Chitin
Challyrion
SAM’s Analysis: A savage quadruped predator that camouflages itself to sneak up to its prey.
Summary: Similar to the kett’s attack Wraith, a Challyrion can cloak itself before pouncing on its target. However, they’re usually found alone, not posing much of a threat to those well-equipped.
Bio Material: Scale Fibers
Eiroch
SAM’s Analysis: An aggressive, hard-charging carnivore with tough plates and protruding scales. They tend to be solitary hunters, or “rogues,” but may be encountered in small packs.
Summary: These are “unexalted” Fiends, so their behavior is identical to the kett’s giant pets, although usually found alone in the wilds of Voeld, Havarl, and Kadara. See Fiend.
Ancient Eiroch
SAM’s Analysis: Larger and more dangerous than its mundane version, the Ancient Eiroch is a fearsome and frenzied carnivorous predator.
Ancient Eirochs are colored a clayish red and have much more health than normal Eirochs. However, they’re extremely rare, only found in specific quests. They behave similarly to normal Eirochs, except with amplified strength and smaller weak-point areas. Incinerate, Invasion, and Flamethrower are effective still.
Bio Material: Eiroch Fluid Sac, Renderable Plates
Galorn
SAM’s Analysis: Immense hoofed creatures with plates that appear lit, and odd, colorful glands that span their face and jaw. Related to the Taurg, Galorn charge and headbutt when provoked.
Bio Material: Renderable Plates
Rylkor
SAM’s Analysis: A lanky, fork-tongued monotreme that lurches on its two hind legs. When provoked, it strikes from a distance with an astringent spit attack; at close range, it swipes adversaries with its agile tail.
Summary: Rylkors are commonly found on Kadara, Voeld, and Havarl. Their tail swipes deal a large amount of damage, but for the most part, they’re easily avoidable with evades and distance. They have no known weak points.
Bio Material: Scale Fibers
Taurg
SAM’s Analysis: A mammoth hoofed beast that barks its warning and, when attacked, rushes forward to stomp and headbutt.
Bio Material: Renderable Plates
