Weapon Mods

Mods are hot-swappable enhancement items that can be added to weapons to fine-tune and tweak various properties. There are eight adjustable properties to a weapon, each with a contextual icon to match:

Weapon Properties

Positive Effects Types Icon
Accuracy Scope
Clip Size Magazine
Damage Barrel
Melee Damage Melee Optimizer
Penetration/Penetration Distance Receiver
Spare Ammo Spare Clip
Stability Stock
Weight (Reduce) Ultra-Light Materials

Like weapons and armor, mods dropped from enemies and sold by vendors are level-scaled. The higher your player level, the higher the rank of the mods you find, with increasing bonuses. Additionally, some mods (within the same rank) boost stats even more than usual, but with a sacrifice to another stat. These mods have distinct names—names with a modifying adjective to the component, such as “Heavy Magazine” (large clip-size bonus, but weight penalty) and “Long Barrel” (much greater damage, but less accuracy).

Most standard weapons can have two mods installed, while crafted weapons can potentially have four.
