Mass Effect: Andromeda Collector's Edition eGuide Secondary Ops

The Lost Song

Mission Type: Heleus Assignment: Voeld

Prerequisite: Mission 2; complete “Return to the Tempest” after Aya during “A Trail of Hope”

Start Location: Voeld

Unlocking: Speak to the angaran biologist

Speak to the Biologist

Voeld: Techiix

The biologist and behaviorist are standing on a platform in front of Techiix near the sniper who gives you the “White Death” quest. Speak to the biologist (1). Outlaws are poaching the Yevara, a native species able to communicate through intricate songs cherished by the angara. Tracking down these poachers would win favor with the angara on Voeld.

Track the Poachers

To the northeast of Techiix is the first sign of the poachers (2). Find and scan the empty shipping container.

Read the Poacher Datapad

Enter the open end of the storage container and examine the datapad found inside. If Jaal is with you, you can discuss the findings with him. Jump back in the Nomad and drive south toward the kett mountain base, following the next navpoint for “The Lost Song.”

Find the Poacher Camp

Travel south toward the kett mountain base, following the lit pipeline that leads to the mountain. Look for a frozen river teeming with wildlife and poachers (3). This battle begins with a small camp below the pipeline.

We suggest driving upriver a bit and attacking the wildlife and poachers with ranged weapons and powers. The enormous Eiroch charge, and it’s best to knock their health down substantially before they’re in your face.

Investigate the Poacher Cave

If you’re not in the mood for a drawn-out fight, the alternative solution is to bury the gas pedal and drive right into the cave entrance at the end of the river, bypassing the wildlife and poachers. An approach from the side of the mountain near the cave entrance is a good starting point. Drive deep into the cave until the Nomad no longer fits through the obstacles.

Exit the Nomad and defeat any enemies that venture in after you. Keep following the cave as it narrows, and eventually light can be seen through a doorway-sized crevice. Follow the narrow tunnel into a new clearing. This cave area branches off in a few directions; to find what you need, make sure the mission is selected in the journal and follow the navpoint.

When you see machinery, you’re in the right place. This is where you find Dr. Lekaaret. Speak to him. He seems to forgive you for killing the people he hired to shoot at you. He confesses he’s been performing tests. An enzyme in the Yevara’s skin could treat the effects of kett weaponry, healing the wounded faster and allowing them to push back against the kett.

During the conversation, you can side with the biologist and his love for the beautiful singing Yevara, or with the doctor, taking interest in his discovery that may aid in the fight against the kett. There’s no adverse reaction to either decision. The choice is yours. Let Dr. Lekaaret continue his research, or choose “This stops now.” You earn the same XP and small amount of AVP no matter your choice.
