Brief Biography: There’s old and then there’s Drack. The elder krogan spent more than 1,400 years causing a ruckus in the Milky Way—wearing the title of soldier, merc, and at times even pirate. When the loyal but stubborn vet was given the chance to join his clan on a voyage to Andromeda, of course he signed up. It meant a whole new galaxy of stuff to shoot.

Role on the Tempest

Armory, Security

Drack is the Tempest’s muscle, maintaining the ship’s armory and ensuring the crew’s safety on board and planetside. Though it’s hard to call Drack “diplomatic,” he’s also Ryder’s closest liaison to the krogan in Andromeda.

Personality Traits

  • Confident in his abilities but not sure where he fits
  • Says what he thinks when he thinks it

Personal Background

Drack is a living fossil, a relic of the Krogan Rebellions held together with prosthetics and ample gumption. The old timer was among the krogan woken up to put down the uprising on the Nexus when the station reached Andromeda. He’ll likely never forgive the Initiative for what it did to his people, and the last thing he wants to do is help Tann do it to anyone else. The Pathfinder must prove they are different before Drack will join the Tempest.

Drack came along with Clan Nakmor as they sought a new home in Andromeda, not really knowing his place in the clan anymore. When his fellow krogan left the Nexus and encountered the kett, Drack stepped into an old role, grabbing a gun. But what comes next in Heleus, finding a future for the krogan, is a task alien to him. He only knows how to tear things down, not build them up. At Ryder’s side, he hopes to find a purpose beyond war—a reason for an old soldier with a million stories to instead live for the future.

Fighting Style and Combat Tips

Summary: Drack is a pure brawler and “tank.” With Drack, what you see is what you get, and his enemies usually see a krogan behemoth barreling down on them before their lives flash before their eyes. Drack is armed with a Ruzad shotgun and some sort of homemade industrial tool he uses as a melee weapon—so he’s most comfortable fighting within hugging range. As with all krogan, he has access to the Blood Rage power. When Blood Rage is activated, his blood figuratively boils, transforming him into the embodiment of undying rage, so he becomes immune to death and deals bonus melee damage.

Synergies: Drack is a battle-hardened warrior who’s fond of going deep and violating an enemy’s personal space. Enable his bloodlust by either joining him in the fray to gang up on his victim or by supporting him from afar and incapacitating his targets while he does the dirty work. If Drack has the Incinerate tech power unlocked, you can take advantage and follow up its priming effect with your combo detonator powers. Additionally, Incinerate is well-suited for taking down armored monstrosities, such as Fiends and Destroyers.

Notable Power Spikes: Incendiary Ammo (Krogan Warrior, Rank 6) augments Drack’s shotgun with the incinerate effect, allowing him to set up combo detonations without needing to use the Incinerate power. Once you’ve completed Drack’s loyalty mission, consider using the Re-Spec Station to unlock this skill. You can then forgo spending his skill points on Incinerate and instead invest them in other powers or passives.

Inspirational (Blood Rage, Rank 5) emboldens nearby teammates with a significant damage-reduction buff and hefty melee-damage boost. This is particularly powerful if Ryder is optimized with the Vanguard profile (melee damage synergy).

Weaknesses: Drack’s primary methods of attack revolve around his shotgun and unconventional melee weapon. Although Incinerate is a ranged power that’s effective against armored units, he struggles against most Remnant foes due to their shields and flight capabilities. If you plan on exploring a vault with Drack, be sure to cover his weaknesses by pairing him with a member equipped with a shield-destroying power (for instance, Liam’s Overload and Jaal’s Energy Drain).
