Mass Effect: Andromeda Collector's Edition Guide › Secondary Ops

Investigate the Remnant Derelict

Mission Type: Heleus Assignment: Elaaden

Prerequisite: Complete “Parlay with the Krogan”

Start Location: Elaaden

Unlocking: Approach the derelict Remnant ship.

Go to the Derelict Remnant Ship

Elaaden: Hell’s Promise

To keep Morda from potentially building a bomb, you must retrieve the drive core located inside the heart of the Remnant derelict. The Initiative needs to get it before Morda’s people do. Head to the Remnant derelict ship (1) in Hell’s Promise.

Locate the Entrance

Deploy the nearby Hell’s Promise Forward Station and then approach the south entrance of the ship, which is in a low trenched pathway between large sand dunes. Drive the Nomad into the tunnel, and don’t stop until you reach the interior where the Scourge energy pockets (2) begin. Turrets behind them stop you from safely taking the Nomad any farther.

Super Sneaky

Finding the derelict entrance the conventional way requires you to fight through multiple turrets. No matter what pathway you take, you eventually face turrets…unless you use the secret back door. Once you’re facing the Scourge and turrets, re-enter the Nomad, exit the tunnel (A) the way you came in, and drive around the derelict ship until you encounter a wide path (B) between ship sections. Large, slanted Remnant pillars stop you from platform-jumping over the wall, but there’s a hole (C) big enough to drive the Nomad through. Once you’re in, drive along the ceiling area above the Remnant console. Drop through a crack (D) in the ceiling, and then you only need to deal with the Remnant constructs and Raiders before working on the Remnant puzzle.

If you don’t mind battling a few turrets (not all of them), the best way through the battlefield is to enter one of the side trenches at one of two points (3)(4), destroy a turret, and fight some Raiders and another turret at the end of the trench. Both paths meet on the other side of the turret field, where you find an access point (6) that leads to the real entrance of the derelict ship.

If you take this route, explore the chamber (5) in the middle of the side pathways that lead underneath the field of turrets. You find more enemies inside, but you also find three containers of loot.

In the next chamber, you battle Raiders, Assemblers, and Observers. Once the area is clear, scan the Remnant console and the mining drill behind it. You need to find one glyph for the Remnant puzzle.

Locate the Remnant Glyph

With your back to the Remnant console, facing the way you entered the room, you can find the glyph on the second column on your left. Your scanner detects a conduit running from the console to the correct column. Scan the Entropy Glyph (the only one you need) and return to the console.

Locate the Remnant Glyph

Interface with the Remnant console and solve the Remnant Decryption Puzzle using the solution here.

Enter the Derelict Remnant Ship

Go through the vault-like door near the console and into the ship. You can get through the ship with very little fuss. Run past any Remnant inside since they’re reluctant to attack until you get close or attack them first.

Locate the Derelict Ship’s Drive Core

The path through the ship is linear. You reach one Remnant console that activates a Remnant flash-forged bridge (motion-responsive plating). Head through an unlocked door to reach another console and flash-forged bridge. The trickiest part is jumping across the Remnant pillars when the bridge fails halfway across a chasm.

Just beyond the pillar jump challenge is another Remnant console. Activate it to open the drive core door, only to discover the drive core is gone. Someone else got to it first. You deduce there must be another way into the ship.

Find an Alternate Exit from the Derelict Ship

Take a left off the drive core door console platform and head down a hallway toward red flares on the floor. Use the very small doorway there to enter a narrow passageway that leads to more Observers and the way out of the ship.

Look for things to scan (you should never stop). You find many Remnant Observer creators, any one of which awards you some nice Research Data points. The last one is just before the very narrow, green-lit hallway that leads to the exit. When you see sunlight, follow the dropped flares and navigate over the wall of rubble, heading for the sunlight to reach the outside. Approach the navpoint to drop a forward station (7). This allows you to hail the Nomad; you aren’t stranded in the middle of nowhere without wheels.
