Mass Effect: Andromeda Collector's Edition eGuide Secondary Ops

Jaal Ama Darav: Flesh and Blood

Mission Type: Allies and Relationships

Prerequisite: Complete “Jaal Ama Darav: Friend or Foe?”

Start Location: Tempest

Unlocking: Read email from Jaal.

Read Jaal’s Email

Tempest: Deck 2

When you receive the email from Jaal titled “Need to Speak With You,” read it to get this quest going again. Jaal says he’s received an update on Akksul. It doesn’t look good. He wants you to come see him (1) in his room.

Speak to Jaal on the Tempest

Head to Jaal’s tech lab (1). You catch Jaal in an awkward and emotional moment. He’s struggling over Akksul and how Akksul has poisoned his followers with his hatred of aliens. At the end of the conversation, agree to help Jaal save his home world from Akksul’s corruption.

Meet Jaal’s Resistance Contact on Havarl

Havarl

From Havarl’s landing zone (2), head northeast to the nearest forward station (3), right there at the science facility. Talk to Ayka on the landing-pad platform.

Jaal asks Ayka if there’s any word on Teviint (his other sister) and the others. She tells you Akksul’s assumed control. Tell her you need a way in, not to fight the entire Roekaar army but just to run in and grab Jaal’s family. She agrees to do a shuttle drop nearby, but that’s the best she can offer.

Board the Shuttle

Head toward the shuttle on the same platform, then to the navpoint, and tell the shuttle pilot you’re ready to go. Select your gear and your team for the operation.

Enter the Clearing

The Forge

Check the new map when control returns from the loadout trip. You begin (4) in the northeast corner of the Forge. Traverse the narrow passage ahead and push into the clearing and a navpoint (5) ahead and to the right. Look for signs of Jaal’s family.

Search for Signs of Jaal’s Family

Check the houses (6) on your left for loot. There’s an audio log from the archaeologist in the second building on the left. People have been won over by Akksul’s propaganda machine. Press into the next group of huts to the west (7). In the third house on the left, you find signs of a struggle. An angaran relic is scannable and shattered on the floor.

In a house across the pathway, you find another audio log(9) from the same archaeologist. He talks about how Sheva calls Akksul out for the radical he is. Scan the blood splatter on the floor and the unknown plant in the nook before you leave.

Head for the navpoint (9), which leads you to a door to another home.

Defeat the Roekaar

Enter the home (9) to find a couple of Roekaar Raiders on the other side of the door. Defeat them. Find the note on a table to the left as you follow the navpoint to the back door. The note is to Akksul, relating that all civilians have been accounted for. Head out the back door and into a new clearing (10).

You’ve caught up to the killers! Defeat the Roekaar Raiders ransacking the town. Raiders are everywhere. The stage is pretty large, so use the terrain to your advantage. Get to higher ground (the top of the waterfall area) and watch the radar to find your next victim. A dropship refreshes the battle with more Raiders and a Sharpshooter. Head to the navpoint on the higher waterfall plateau area, at the end of a narrow passage (11).

Return Power to the Door

Use your scanner at the door to trace the yellow conduit underground to a nook around the corner with a generator.

Scan the Generator

Scan and then activate the generator to send power to the door (11). Use this doorway now.

Cross the Ravine

Head through the back of the house and open the door to a new part of the Forge. You’re outdoors again, on a large ledge, and you see beautiful sunlight shining through the finely crafted angaran bridge in the distance. This is what you use to cross the ravine. Head through the navpoint (12).

The sound of explosions on the bridge reaches you before you get there. The bridge goes down. Drop off the end of the broken bridge and down to the ledge below to reach the navpoint. Then leap from the edge of the ravine to the next plateau over (13).

Climb Past the Roekaar

Once on the other side, you’re tasked with climbing past the Roekaar. Follow the navpoint up the pathway (14) and defeat the Roekaar infesting this area, including the Saboteur and all the Raiders. Scan the ruins for Research Data and then climb into the cave to continue following the navpoint (15). Alternatively, you can sprint from navpoint to navpoint to escape this ledge battle. Inside the cave, work your way to the back and jump up onto a higher ledge to get to the navpoint.

Find the Bombs

Jaal meets his family holed up in the cave. Introduce yourself and explain that the humans want to work with them against the kett. At first they don’t like the idea, but Akksul is preparing to blow the place up and there’s no time to argue. You have to get out.

Run through the cave (16), chasing the navpoint down a narrow passage that reveals a large cavern (17) with a great view of the angaran scenery through a gap in the side. The next navpoint (18) appears in the middle of the cavern on an elaborate platform. Kill the Roekaar Raiders below.

Disarm Four Bombs Before Detonation

Eliminate the Roekaar

You have three minutes to disarm all four bombs: (18) on the platform in the middle of the chamber, (19) on the short wall on the right side, (20) on a short wall on the north side, and (21) in a ditch on the left side. All the while, you must hold off attacking Adhi. The Roekaar can be eliminated on the way to the bombs or after they’re all disarmed (enemies aren’t part of the timed objective).

Reunite Jaal’s Family

Once you’ve killed the last Raider after defusing the last bomb, you meet up with Jaal’s family in a cutscene reunion. Akksul enters the get-together. You can choose to stand up to him during the conversation options.

Jaal stops you before you gun Akksul down. Akksul, in turn, draws on Jaal. Watch the lower-right corner of the screen to execute the command prompt in time to kill Akksul before he shoots Jaal. Even if you don’t kill him, Akksul misses. His followers become disenchanted by their new leader and lay down arms. Everyone walks away from Akksul—alive. The family is reunited on the shuttle pad back in Havarl (3), and you earn Jaal’s loyalty.
