Forward stations are deployed from the Tempest to give you a foothold in key areas on a planet. Thanks to Suvi, your map is automatically marked with potential forward station plots whenever you land on a new planet. Forward stations provide several features and luxuries, and there is no cost to calling one down.
Calling Down a Station: To call down a forward station, simply get within range of the holographic overlay provided by SAM.
Fast Travel: You can fast travel to any established forward station via your world map. Select the forward station and press the Confirm button. Note that forward stations aren’t the only points you can fast travel to. Any map marker with an added fast-forward symbol next to it can be used as a fast travel point (such as the Tempest).
Resupply: You can fully restore your shields, health, power cells, and life support by visiting a forward station (on foot or while driving the Nomad). The Nomad is also repaired in this manner.
Change Loadout: Each forward station includes a loadout station. Use it to open the Loadout interface if you’d like to swap out squadmates or manage your equipment.
Call Nomad: The Nomad function deploys the Nomad to your position. On planets where the Nomad is unavailable, this panel on the forward station is instead used to call in an extraction to the Tempest.
Find Minerals: Establishing a forward station reveals all mining zones in the vicinity. Use the Nomad’s mining interface to call down a probe to collect and add minerals to your inventory.
Sensor Logs: Sensor logs are available at most forward stations to provide information on nearby events.
