Find Ari Vesjek (1), an angaran scholar, inside the first building (2) on the right as you enter Techiix. He’s looking for information on first contact between the angara and the kett, specifically from the kett’s point of view. He believes logs may be found in the kett operations center on Voeld.
Search the Kett Database
Kett Mountain Base
The best time to use the console (3) to search the kett database is while you’re attacking the kett base during “Remove the Heart.” Consider it an optional objective of “Remove the Heart,” as it gives you access to loot containers previously inaccessible. You’re in the second-story room in the central building to destroy the security terminal at that time. After you use the console, SAM performs a search to locate relevant data.
Disable Security Matrix
Enter the building (4) and scan the Critical Subsystem console on the support beam seen as soon as you enter through the main east entryway. The scan indicates this is a critical subsystem for the operation of the kett defense matrix. The kett’s redundant backup systems ensure that at least three subsystems must be disabled before the defense matrix can be shut down. SAM confirms that disabling three will disable the defense matrix.
Deal with the waves of kett. When you catch a break, sabotage that first console you scanned when you entered. The second critical subsystem (5) is on the console facing the inside of the building on your right as you walk in. Sabotage it.
The third and last critical subsystem (6) also faces the inside of the building on the left-balcony support wall. Scan it and sabotage it. This unlocks the secure storage structure, and the defense matrix is disabled. Lockdown is lifted, and all automated defenses shut down. This means the first building on the left when you entered the base is now unlocked.
Extract Data from the Console
Head into the first floor of the southernmost building (7). The previously locked door is now open, revealing a room housing containers and a kett console. Hack the console to extract the data. The record is titled “‘Angara’ First Encounter.” You learn that some of the first angara were coerced into working with the kett upon first contact. Ari Vesjek needs this info.
Return to Ari Vesjek
If you haven’t already raided the containers in the locked room on the second floor of the building (7), do so now. Earlier, during “Remove the Heart,” you may have smashed through the back window to get inside. Return to Techiix and speak with Vesjek (2) to complete the mission. You can choose to hide or reveal the truth; there are no adverse reactions either way.
