Mass Effect: Andromeda Collector's Edition Guide › Secondary Ops

Kett’s Bane

Mission Type: Heleus Assignment: Eos

Prerequisite: Approach the kett facility to receive a radio transmission from the contact (check to see if Prodromos has to be up before this unlocks)

Start Location: Eos

Unlocking: Approach the kett facility to receive a message from Bain.

Meet the Contact

Eos

Safely approach the kett base (1) on Eos to receive radio contact from a man named Bain Massani. The message often triggers when you’re driving along the narrow mountainside roads reached from the direction of the nearby forward station. The voice over the radio (which is identified on-screen as Bain Massani) mentions that the duck has wandered far from the flock—you being the duck. When you ask who’s speaking, he places a navpoint (2) on the map and invites you to come see him. Visit Bain to learn how to weaken the kett base enough for easier entry.

Presson Dunes: Kett Bunker

Follow the Presson Dunes navpoint (2) to a kett bunker near a large outpost. A burning shuttle is billowing thick black smoke next to the bunker; you can see it for miles.

A conversation strikes up between you and Bain the moment you enter the bunker through the front door. He audaciously introduces himself as a kett hunter, which sets the mood for the conversation. Pick his brain, and he offers you a job that will weaken the main kett base—the crown jewel, as he puts it. He gives you two kett target-location navpoints: a power generator and a barracks. There are a few other kett buildings around the area, but hitting these two fulfills your duty to Bain.

Destroy the Power Generator

The power generator (3) in the kett facility is just next door to Bain’s bunker. Approach cautiously, beginning with long-range attacks (sniping if possible). You face many Chosen and a couple Anointed. Enter the facility through the front door to find a container of goodies behind some crates on the left. Continue into the main room using the connecting exterior walkway, and deep inside the room you find the kett security console (scan it before you leave).

Approach the console, then press and hold the prompt at the navpoint to deactivate the power generator. Continue to hold the Interact button until the gauge fills to destroy the console. Accomplishing this task takes some time, so make sure the enemy has been cleared from the area before you start.

Destroy the Barracks

Get in the Nomad and climb back up the hill to the east near the forward station, and then head south to the kett barracks (4) on the narrow ledge below the kett base. It’s possible for this objective to be accomplished before you even pick up the job, if you’ve already taken this base out. Defeat the Chosen on the grounds around the barracks’ foundation, using the large boulders for cover. Eliminate the Anointed on the back balcony out before entering.

Inside the barracks, defeat the Chosen on the first floor and then work your way upstairs to defeat the Destined (the kett that cloaks itself in a cloud of blue smoke). You complete the objective by destroying all the kett in the barracks. Once both targets have been taken care of, your work for Bain is done.

Speak with Bain

After dealing with the two targets Bain tasked you with, go back and talk to him (2) to complete the mission.
