Mass Effect: Andromeda Collector's Edition eGuide Secondary Ops

Task: Hitting Rocks for Science

Mission Type: Additional Task

Prerequisite: Unlock the Tempest

Start Location: Nexus Operations or Tech Lab

Unlocking: Speak to Chief Lucan

Speak to Chief Lucan

Nexus Operations or Tech Lab

Initially, all the scientists are together in operations on the rear deck (1). When the commons opens, you can find the scientists in the Tech Lab (2). Speak to the scientists to open a collection task from each.

Speak to Chief Lucan and answer, “Try and stop me,” to take this collection mission. He tells you that he and SAM used your scans and made a VI for geophysics surveys, and he wants you to test the beta out in the field. He’ll reward you with a consultant’s bonus.

Access the Terminal

After speaking to each scientist, you must access the terminal (1) on the same operations deck where you first found the scientists. If you’re in the tech lab, the terminal there works too. Here you confirm each scientist’s quest. In this case, select “Geophysics VI: Beta Build” on the console. For this challenge, you must scan 16 minerals near marked navpoints on uncharted worlds.

Scan 16 Minerals

Eos

Sawtooth Plateau Mineral: Element Zero Sample

This mineral (3) is located near the forward station at Sawtooth Plateau on Eos. Find it between boulders near an old monolith site.

All you need to do is get a scan of the mineral; you don’t need to pick it up. This one is element zero.

Presson Dunes Mineral: Venadium Sample

This mineral (4) is located between boulders in Presson Dunes among all the kett generators.

The Golden Wastes: Cadmium Sample

This mineral (5) is located on the side of the deep creator hole next to the Remnant vault. Scan it.

Havarl

Buried Cave Mineral: Element Zero

Find the element zero mineral (6) to the left (west) of the Remnant vault. Be prepared to battle wildlife—namely, a Galorn—in this area. The rock is in a small cave. Scan it.

Voeld

Iridium

This is the closest rock (7) to the angaran Resistance base. Find it next to magnificent ice spires.

Platinum

Find this mineral (8) on the mountaintop above the daar, Techiix. It’s on the edge near a frozen boulder.

Lithium

This mineral (9) is next to some small, glowing Remnant pillars inside the west Remnant monolith cave. You can find it when solving the puzzle there during “Restoring a World.”

Element Zero

Find element zero (10) in the kett mountain base tunnel entrance. It’s on the right side between the medical cache container and the force field that must be hacked with Buxil’s assistance.

H-047C

Titanium

From the Tempest landing zone (11) on the lunar surface, head west to the first dome (12), where you start the mission “From the Dust.” The rock is inside the dome. Head straight back from the entrance and find it behind the big boulder.

Element Zero

Find element zero in the dome to the south (13). After defeating the enemies inside, scan this mineral located next to the boulder shown in our shot.

Elaaden

Cadmium

Find the cadmium (14) mineral north of the Remnant derelict ship near a Remnant pillar site surrounded by Scourge energy pockets.

Fluorite

Find the fluorite (15) near a little oasis and underground base that you can’t access until the “Water Supply” mission. The mineral is next to a tree above the entrance to the subterranean base.

Element Zero

Find the element zero near a Remnant pillar challenge where you encounter many wildlife creatures and Raiders. The rock (16) is on the west side of the pillar array. Scan it.

Kadara

Titanium

Find the titanium mineral sample (16) next to this hillside up high in the mountain plateau in Haarfel.

Iridium

Find the iridium sample (17) near an acid pool and a memory trigger in Kurinth’s Valley.

Element Zero

Find element zero (18) in Sulfur Springs near a large boulder close to a facility that furthers the quest “Nakmor Drack: Krogan Betrayal.”

Speak with Chief Lucan

Next time you’re in the Nexus commons, head to the second floor and visit the scientists in the tech lab. Talk to Chief Lucan (2) to let him know you did what he asked, and he rewards you with XP.
