Mass Effect: Andromeda Collector's Edition eGuide Secondary Ops

Modern Medicine

Mission Type: Heleus Assignment: Kadara

Prerequisite: Must have interrogated Vehn Terev in “Hunting the Archon”

Start Location: Kadara Slums

Unlocking: Speak to Dr. Nakamoto

Talk to Dr. Nakamoto

Kadara Slums

From the slums lift (1), head up to the main platform level of the slums and straight back along the leftmost catwalk to find the doctor in a shipping container. Enter and talk to Dr. Ryota Nakamoto (2). He requests your help in stealing back a medical formula that Sloane Kelly has been abusing to create a drug called Oblivion. He says the formula is in his old lab and sends you a navpoint.

Go to Dr. Nakamoto’s Old Lab

Haarfel

Follow the road in front of the slums east, staying left at the intersections, to reach Dr. Nakamoto’s old lab (3) in the hills of Haarfel.

Defeat the Outcast Guards

When you arrive, you quickly realize you’re not alone. Defeat the Collective Sharpshooter and Raiders. Once they’re toast, enter the lab.

Retrieve the Formula

Scan the unknown plants for Research Data as you enter, then follow the navpoint to Dr. Farenth, who’s standing in the back of the lab. Tell her you’re here for the Oblivion formula and you’ll be on your way. She tries to convince you that she and Dr. Nakamoto always intended Oblivion to be an addictive drug and that its medicinal value was incidental.

You can opt to believe either Farenth’s or Nakamoto’s story. If you believe Nakamoto, select “I’m not buying it” during your conversation with Farenth, and take the formula. Otherwise, take Farenth’s side and leave the formula behind. There’s no wrong choice here; your reward in the end is the same. Raid the containers in the lab before you leave.

Return to Dr. Nakamoto

Return to the Kadara Slums and talk to Dr. Nakamoto (2) in his makeshift examination room. The conversation is a pleasant one if you sided with him regarding the Oblivion debacle. You earn a good amount of AVP and +5% Kadara Viability for completing this quest.
