Dragonknights use the power of fire and earth to scorch and pummel their enemies into submission. They make great Tanks, but these fierce warriors can also serve as devastating Damage-Dealers.
When it comes to DPS, the Dragonknight has access to some of the game’s best single-target damage-over-time effects. Magicka-focused Dragonknights would do well to focus on Burning effects, but this class also features some great options for Poison Damage.
With a variety of short-range attacks, armor effects, and one of the game’s only Pull abilities, Dragonknight skills tend to complement more aggressive playstyles. Those looking for long-range attacks or enhanced mobility should plan for heavy investment in outside skill lines.
Class Skill Lines
| Skill | Description | Stamina Options |
|---|---|---|
| Ardent Flame | With options for direct damage, area-of-effect damage, and damage over time, the Ardent Flame skill line contains several of the Dragonknight’s signature attacks.True to its name, this skill line heavily favors Flame Damage. However, select morphs make Poison Damage a viable option for Stamina builds. Many of the available Passive Abilities affect both of these damage types, making Ardent Flame a priority skill line for any Dragonknight Damage-Dealer. | The Ardent Flame skill line offers two Stamina morphs:Venomous Claw: This Searing Strike morph offers a bit of direct damage with a great damage-over-time effect.Noxious Breath: This Fiery Breath morph combines a limited area of effect with a moderate damage-over-time effect. It also applies Major Fracture to affected targets. |
| Draconic Power | The Draconic Power skill line features self-heals, armor effects, and one of the best multi-target roots available to any class. In short, this skill line has a heavy focus on survivability.Aspiring Tanks should consider deep investment, but virtually any Dragonknight build can benefit from Draconic Power abilities. Spiked Armor, Dark Talons, and Dragon Blood are particularly popular, and Inhale offers a great mix of healing and area-of-effect damage. | The Draconic Power skill line doesn’t offer any Stamina morphs, but Green Blood (morphed from Dragon Blood) adds Stamina Recovery to an already useful self-heal. |
| Earthen Heart | Earthen Heart abilities tend to focus on utility and group support. Stone Fist and Petrify are both great crowd-control tools; Molten Weapons and Obsidian Shield grant powerful effects to an entire group. Ash Cloud combines AoE/DOT damage with a multi-target snare, and the Magma Armor Ultimate is an AoE/DOT attack that also mitigates incoming damage.Whether you’re looking to boost damage output or reduce damage taken, even a small investment can boost any Dragonknight’s combat efficiency. | The Earthen Heart skill line doesn’t offer any Stamina morphs, but Igneous Weapons (morphed from Molten Weapons) is a great way to boost Weapon Damage—particularly if you invest in the Mountain’s Blessing Passive. It’s also an exceptionally popular group buff, making this Magicka ability a worthy addition to any Dragonknight build. |
