The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind eGuide Combat, Crafting, and Activities Other Activities

Exploration

This section is dedicated to the wanderlust evoked by adventuring across new and unexplored territories, and the minor activities you can engage in during this time.

Trophies

Certain Achievements require you to slay various entities and gather a special “trophy” loot drop from their remains. These collectibles are extremely rare and should always be gathered when possible to complete the various associated Achievements. For example, if you gather evidence that you’ve defeated all four types of Atronach (Smoldering Ember Heart for Flame, Fleshy Symbiont for Flesh, Everfrost for Frost, and Crackling Lodestone for Storm), you can receive the Atronach Element Collector Achievement.

Claim the still-smoldering ember heart of a Flame Atronach as part of the Atronach Element Collector Achievement.

Group Bosses

Even though you may start off hunting small game for the animal skins, the real challenges in Tamriel takes place at a group boss location. Here, you’ll find a particularly powerful variation of a large creature or entity you may have faced before, a juggernaut of a beast with special resistances and abilities. It’s worth starting a hunting party to ensure the beast is slain. Most group bosses in Tamriel are balanced for four players.

Tackling this foul fiend is troubling at the best of times, but even trickier when he’s sporting special offensive capabilities!

Landmarks and Sightseeing

Consult this guide’s Atlas of Morrowind to discover all the landmark locations. Find them all and you receive an Achievement. You may also wish to use such locations as anchor points—areas you become familiar with as you continue to explore.

Treasure Maps and Survey Maps

If you uncover a map during your looting of a boss or opening of a chest, study the sketch carefully; it shows the location of a pile of dirt to dig up for impressive treasure! This guide’s Atlas reveals the locations of every one, which are only accessible once you have the map in your hands. This guide’s Appendices also demonstrate an image of each map paired with an image of the treasure location. Note that some treasure maps are Collector’s Edition only.

If you find a treasure map with a sketch of a location, try finding that area of landscape within the realm you’re traversing, as shown.

Similarly, if you complete a daily crafting writ, there’s a chance you may be rewarded with a survey report. This details an area of the world where a cluster of high-value nodes specific to your associated crafting skill can be found. Go there, gather the resources, and expect to receive bonus yields. Once again, such yields are only available once you have the survey report in your hands. Going to a node without the necessary map doesn’t yield you any bonuses.

Assistants and Pets

“Who’s a good boy, then? You are! Yes, you are! Are you hungry? Wait…not the leg! Aaargh!”

Human-sized and animal-shaped non-combat companions are available, usually after purchasing them from the Crown store, as a bonus for purchasing a pack, or after completing a specific action during a quest. Most assistants come with a specialized skill to make them useful to you, such as filling the role of Merchant, Banker, or smuggler. Most pets are simply delightful and/or cute. Find your Assistants and Pets at the Collections tab.

World Encounters

While traversing Tamriel, you may encounter a small event that wasn’t there the last time you visited a location. Interacting with one usually results in a small amount of Experience awarded, and sometimes a small amount of combat. For example, if you see a couple of bandits arguing over a locked chest, it may be worth your time to deal with them.. These are random and numerous, so don’t overlook them.

What are these ne’er-do-wells up to? One of many small encounters means your adventuring never goes the same way twice.
