The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind eGuide Combat, Crafting, and Activities Player Guilds

About Player Guilds

Join a player guild if you’re looking to adventure with a number of like-minded players, you’re Level 10 or higher in Experience, or you’re seeking to perfect your character, purchase helpful or valuable items, learn more about the game from veterans, and generally socialize. You can choose up to five player guilds to be part of, and guilds can be accessed by players of any alliance affiliation. Note, however, that when fighting in the Alliance War (PvP content), you must be in the guild’s affiliation to benefit from resource claims and bonuses. The five guilds you can join are related to your ESO account, not each character, so any of your characters can join the five guilds, despite any differing alliances.

The Guildmaster and Ranks

The creator of a player guild is known as the Guildmaster (aka guild leader). This seasoned player is in charge of the guild, hands out different permissions to trusted guild members, and changes the different ranks of guild members. Initially, a leader can grant one of four ranks, each with a different set of permissions. This number can be increased to ten ranks and named however you like. Permissions include the ability to chat with others of the same or lower ranks; monitor alliance, bank, and store resources; and promote, demote, or remove members to maintain a cohesive and pleasant atmosphere.

The Guild Bank

Once the guild you’re a member of has acquired ten or more members, a bank can be created. Find any Tamriel Banker to access it. Provided your rank allows it, you and your guild can store up to 500 items and unlimited gold. Think of banks as unsafe storage repositories, as anyone of an appropriately high rank can store or take any item in the bank. However, assuming your members are trustworthy, this is another location to place and take equipment. Use it to pick up items left by a fellow member, or deposit goods for someone who needs them but isn’t online to more easily trade with you. If you want to make some gold in this type of bartering, sell items through the Guild Store instead.

The Guild Store

Once the guild you’re a member of has acquired 50 or more members, a Guild Store can be created. Locate any Banker in Tamriel to access the store—unless a Guild Trader has been hired, in which case they can be accessed as well. Assuming you have the permission, you can sell up to 30 items within this store, each available for a period of 30 days to be purchased by anyone accessing the store. If the item does not sell in 30 days from posting, it is returned. Expect a small tax to be applied to the sale that goes into the Guild’s bank. Initially, the store is only available to members of your guild, but if you utilize the services of a Guild Trader—or a Quartermaster if your guild controls a Cyrodiil Keep during the Alliance War—anyone can buy your wares. Similarly, you can view the items of any other guild.

Guild Trader

Quality merchandise at sometimes unaffordable prices! Hire a Guild Trader, like these fine fellows in Vivec City, to ply your wares.

Throughout Tamriel, Guild Traders are available to sell guild items to any adventurer, whether a guild member or not. Your guild simply bids the most gold (compared to other guilds) to utilize the services of the Guild Trader for a single real-world week. The funds come from the Guild Bank, and a small portion of each sale a Guild Trader provides goes back as tax on the item into Guild Bank coffers.

Guild Heraldry

Once the guild you’re a member of has acquired 10 or more members, the Guildmaster can purchase, create, and change your guild’s insignia—a tabard with a variety of designs and colors to choose from. Each member can then purchase a tabard frrom the guild store at any banker by searching the Guild Items category. This way, your guild can become more uniform in appearance. Your heraldry is also displayed above a keep that your guild controls in the Alliance War.
