Class: Templar
Race: Dark Elf
Attribute Focus: Magicka
Weapon Types: Dual Swords, Destruction Staff
Armor Focus: Light
Mundus Stone: Thief
Bar 1: Dual Wield (Swords)
Key Abilities
| Ability | Description |
|---|---|
|
Toppling Charge: Morphed from Focused Charge (Templar > Aedric Spear). This is your gap closer. Use it to get into melee range. |
|
Puncturing Sweep: Morphed from Puncturing Strikes (Templar > Aedric Spear). This is your primary damage ability. It hits multiple targets and heals you based on damage done. |
|
Radiant Glory: Morphed from Radiant Destruction (Templar > Dawn’s Wrath). A channeled damage-over-time effect that serves as your execute ability. Start using it when your target’s Health drops below 50%. |
|
Structured Entropy: Morphed from Entropy (Mages Guild). Slot it to boost your Maximum Health. Use it as an attack and a damage buff. |
|
Crescent Sweep: Morphed from Radial Sweep (Templar > Aedric Spear). This is a quick and inexpensive Ultimate Ability. It does fair area-of-effect damage, but it’s most effective against enemies in front of you. |
This is your damage Bar. Activate Toppling Charge to get into melee range, then use Puncturing Sweep as your primary attack. Remember that your heavy attacks generate Stamina rather than Magicka, so switch weapons as needed. Consider using Inner Light (Mages Guild) in the remaining slot. Otherwise drop in any ability you’ve come to enjoy.
Bar 2: Destruction Staff
Key Abilities
| Ability | Description |
|---|---|
|
Breath of Life: Morphed from Rushed Ceremony (Templar > Restoring Light). This Magicka ability heals you or a wounded ally. It also grants a smaller heal to an additional target. It’s a great tool for emergencies. |
|
Ritual of Retribution: Morphed from Cleansing Ritual (Templar > Restoring Light). An excellent support tool that adds a good amount of DPS. It’s best used when you need to purge negative effects, but it also has a nice heal-over-time effect. |
|
Vampire’s Bane: Morphed from Sun Fire (Templar > Dawn’s Wrath). This ability offers a bit of direct damage with a nice damage-over-time effect. Use it as your opening attack before you go charging in. Refresh as needed. |
|
Destructive Clench: Morphed from Destructive Touch (Destruction Staff). This combines direct damage and damage over time with a bit of crowd control. |
|
Shooting Star: Morphed from Meteor (Mages Guild). This is a powerful, long-range Ultimate Attack. A good option for boss encounters. |
This is your utility Bar. It’s mostly used to apply damage over time and healing, but it’s also important for your Magicka Recovery. When you find yourself low on Magicka, swap to this Bar and perform a few heavy attacks. Place a desired ability in the remaining slot. The Templar has some excellent utility abilities, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding something you like.
Priority Passives
Remember that Twin Blade and Blunt is the only Dual Wield Passive Ability you really need (although Dual Wield Expert improves your melee attacks a bit). You want that 5% damage boost from your equipped swords. Other than that, invest in each of your core Passives as they become available.
Equipment Recommendations
| Weapons |
|---|
| Priority Trait: Sharpened |
| Priority Enchantment: Spell Damage |
| Once you unlock the Twin Blade and Blunt Passive Ability, swords are all you want to use for dual-wielding. Until you find suitable set items, look for anything with the Sharpened trait. |
| For your main hand, Spell Damage is the preferred enchantment. Choose whatever you like for your off-hand weapon. |
| Armor |
|---|
| Priority Trait: Divines |
| Priority Enchantment: Maximum Magicka |
| Always equip at least five pieces of light armor to take advantage of the skill line’s Passives. If you’ve invested in the Undaunted Mettle Passive Ability, equip medium/heavy armor pieces in the remaining slots. |
| While you hunt down desired set items, stick with light armor that features the Divines trait. If damage is your priority, Maximum Magicka generally yields the best results. |
| Jewelry |
|---|
| Priority Trait: Arcane |
| Priority Enchantment: Spell Damage |
| Until you manage to track down useful set pieces, use anything that increases Maximum Magicka and Spell Damage. |
