Pinnacle Factotum
The first Factotum players encounter. Sent from the Halls of Fabrication once the Hunter-Killers are dispatched to eliminate the threat. |
Abilities
Direct Current: Channeled lightning attack, which does damage and drains Magicka. This needs to be interrupted.
Targets a random player and affects multiple players in its cone of vision. The selected targets take ramping damage over time and if the channel is allowed to finish, Overcurrent hits them. This damaging projectile blast can’t be dodged or reflected but can be blocked. A target not blocking is stunned and knocked down. A target that does block will suffer a staggering blow. In both cases, an AoE blast ignites on the target causing damage to other players. This damage is named Overcurrent Arcs.
Heavy Shock: A wave of energy is launched from the Pinnacle Factotum. The wave can be blocked or dodged. A target not blocking is knocked backwards and stunned. A target that blocks suffers a stagger.
Flux Burst/Static Diffusion: The Pinnacle Factotum teleports to a random player within the room and does damage. A Static Diffusion pool is then dropped on the ground, which does increased damage the longer a player remains inside.
Sharpened Conduit/Direct Current: A spear of pure shock impacts the area and stays. The spear then casts Direct Current on targets, causing damage and draining magicka. The spear must be killed in order to prevent this damage.
Shocking Smash: Blockable attack which hits everything in front of him and creates small lightning orbs that branch out in a star pattern.
Lightning Strike/Arcing Bolt/Proximity Jolt: Basic attack that aims for additional targets, hitting them with a small area of effect ability.
Palm Strike: The Pinnacle Factotum creates mirage clones of himself in a circle around the target. The clones activate one by one doing damage. If these are not blocked, it results in a Heavy Shock wave launching from the clone. The Target cannot move from within the small radius once the Mirages appear or they are killed instantly via Electrocution.
The damage must be blocked while facing into the direction that the Palm Strike is originating from in order to prevent the Heavy Shock wave.
Standing too close to the outer edge of the room causes the targeted player to be knocked inward towards the center.
Terminal Vault: Pinnacle Factotum teleports to the center of the room and begins channeling a spell that wipes out all enemies. This is interrupted when all of the power switches are used at the top of the Liminal Transformer.
Additional Monsters
Centurions
Open Wounds: A ticking bleed that causes damage called Rupture. This negative effect is immune to player removal abilities.
Hack: A basic attack that applies a single stack of the Open Wounds debuff. This is a bleed that ticks over 10 seconds. The damage from the bleed is called Rupture.
Hammer: High damage attack which should be blocked—applying a single stack of Open Wounds.
Spin Cycle/Spare Shrapnel: The Centurion spins following a target and launching small area effects in a radius around it. This ability only happens if the Centurion’s current target is out of melee range. So it’s important to have a tank within melee range as often as possible. Damage from Spin Cycle applies a single stack of Open Wounds.
Pressure Release: Rotating cone area effects of steam as the Centurion sits in place
Mechanics
Liminal Transformer
- This incredible generator of energy is what the Pinnacle Factotum uses to power the boss and disrupt the Planar Rift.
- While active, the Liminal Transformer funnels energy into the Pinnacle Factotum. This energy increases the damage done by the Pinnacle Factotum.
- The heart of the Liminal Transformer is on the upper platform and players must defeat the Refabricated Spheres that are actively disabling the power switches, which connect to the Liminal Transformer.
- While running around on the upper level, the Liminal Transformer spills over with energy. This ability is called Electric Overflow and connects to a random player via a beam from the Liminal Transformer. The longer this beam is connected, the more damage the target takes. And just like in the Hunter-Killer Fabricant encounter, this beam obliterates shields that it passes through. Electric Overflow also puts a debuff on the Refabricated Spheres causing them to take increased damage, and does a small amount of damage on its own. Any player that is targeted by Electric Overflow should make sure the beam crosses through the Refabricated Spheres.
- Also, the Electric Overflow never targets the same player twice in a row. So in order to get the most mileage out of Electric Overflow’s potential, it’s imperative to have multiple players engaging with the upper level mechanics.
- Once a Refabricated Sphere is defeated, the power switch that it was channeling becomes usable. In normal mode, once a switch has been pushed, the switch doesn’t need to be hit again to trigger the shutdown.
- When the Liminal Transformer is triggered to enter emergency shutdown, a large explosion is moments away. Any organic matter on the upper platform must clear the area and drop back down to the ground below.
Planar Rift
- This is the gateway into Clockwork City. Divayth Fyr works to stabilize the rift in order to use it to enter Clockwork City.
- The volatile nature of the rift manifests into a hazard for players when it spits out Unstable Energy projectiles. These projectiles target random players and should be avoided.
- If the Liminal Transformer is allowed to be active for too long, the Planar Rift will become far too unstable and the excess energy will blow out from the rift and kill everyone in the group.
Divayth Fyr’s Slowfall spell
- Just as Divayth Fyr provided a way to reach the top, he provides a safe way back to the ground.
- This spell is placed on all four openings surrounding the platform. The same opening that players levitated through.
- Dropping through the opening grants players a temporary protection from fall damage.
Divayth Fyr’s Teleportation spell
- If a player dies up top and the Liminal Transformer is not active, Divayth Fyr will teleport their corpse back down to the bottom.
Lower Level Strategy
This fight requires two tanks. When first engaging, one tank will keep the attention of the Pinnacle Factotum. The Factotum should be faced away from the rest of the trial group to avoid the damage from his Shock Smash. Players will need to be careful to avoid his Heavy Shock and Shockwave orbs. Shortly after the fight begins, a Refabricated Centurion will become active. This Centurion should be taunted by the second tank. DPS players should focus on the Centurion to remove its damage from the fight. Tanking the two monsters apart is wise to avoid splash damage from either monster spilling over onto the other tank.
Everyone should be sure to get out of any area of effect spells quickly. Watch for Unstable Energy from the Planar Rift as well when the Liminal Transformer is active. Interrupting the Direct Current ability is important and there will be constant pressure from the Pinnacle Factotum’s Arcing Bolts and any Heavy Shock waves that generate from a failed block during Palm Strikes. So healers will need to stay vigilant and keep the group heathy.
When the Liminal Transformer is activated by the Pinnacle Factotum, players need to travel up to the top platform using Divayth Fyr’s levitation spell. Those that remain will need to continue to avoid the mechanics and destroy centurions as they awaken. Also as the fight progresses and more mechanics are introduced, it will be the bottom group’s task to keep up with the additional enemies such as the Sharpened Conduits and the Short Circuiting Centurions.
Upper Liminal Transformer Strategy
At various intervals, the Liminal Transformer is activated by the Pinnacle Factotum, in an attempt to disrupt the Planar Rift and provide the Pinnacle Factotum with additional power. Players will need to use Divayth Fyr’s levitation spell, located on four nearby platforms to reach the upper level. Once on the upper level, players need to shut down the Liminal Transformer. In order to do this, players must defeat the Refabricated Spheres engaged with the Liminal Transformers’ power switches.
One player at the top randomly becomes tethered by Electric Overflow, which is a beam similar to the one in the Hunter-Killer Fabricant fight. If this beam passes over a Sphere, the shield (in veteran) is instantly broken and the Spheres take increased damage the longer they are intersected by the beam. Players however take damage as the beam is connected to them and anyone crossing the beam also takes damage. After all of the Spheres are destroyed, players must activate the switches, which trigger the emergency shutdown on the Liminal Transformer and cease the disruption of the Planar Rift. In Veteran, these switches must be activated within 2s of each other. Afterwards, Divayth Fyr will activate a slow fall spell, allowing players to return to the lower section, where the fight rages on against the Pinnacle Factotum.
