Furnishing Your Home

There are well over 3,000 furnishings, and more added all the time. Make your house into a home and really show off your style!

Now that you’ve acquired one or more homes, think about adding your own furnished touches, provided you didn’t buy the abode fully furnished—though you can still add touches to it. See the Appendices at the end of this book for a full list.

There are a number of methods of obtaining furnishings:

Home Goods Furnisher: Journey to a main city or capital to find these vendors, who offer stone and plants found in the given region, and a basic array of furniture and other items.

Achievement Furnisher: Throughout Tamriel, these merchants allow you to purchase special furnishings after completing specific quests and achievements. There’s some fine statuary available, assuming you’ve adventured hard enough to unlock the sale of these!

Holiday Furnisher: Sells achievement furnishings associated with the regular Holiday events in Tamriel.

Luxury Furnisher: For the good stuff, visit Zanil Theran, found in Cicero’s Food and General Goods Store in the Hollow City inside Coldharbour, for some premium and special items only available for a short time. Zanil is only present on the weekends.

Other: The Shadowy Supplier is a Dark Brotherhood skill that unlocks Remains-Silent in Outlaws Refuges and the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary. This NPC provides the player with beneficial items once per day with a rare chance of being awarded a furnishing. A set of books can be purchased from the Magisters in the Mages Guilds once a collection has been discovered.

Crown Store (and Housing Editor): You can purchase furnishing items at the Crown Store, or for crowns once you’re inside your home and using the Housing Editor to place scenery, but want to purchase an item you don’t have yet. These items can’t be traded for gold or sold to others.

Fishing: Try a Fishing Hole to randomly obtain some fish-themed objects for your home. The type differs depending on the type of Fishing Hole: fresh, salt, river, or foul.

Furnishing Crafting: You’re able to craft a great many items for your home, with the added benefits of selling them to fellow players. Each type of trade skill has its own plans (a little like a Provisioning recipe), found in scenery throughout the lands, purchased, looted from foes, or stolen. Craft any plans you obtain at the appropriate crafting station, which doesn’t need to be in your home, though it can be. To obtain higher-quality plans, raise your trade skill, and be warned that crafting quality items may require tannins, tempers, or resins. The following types of plans are available, which use some new materials, as well as others you’ll be familiar with if you’ve crafted before:

Craft these to add Inspiration to your chosen trade skill, and even if you don’t have a home, you can still sell the finished items to other players. Thousands of plans are available, so get crafting mirrors, banners, lamps, bookcases, nightstands, barrels, pots, basins, braziers, hammocks, beds, pillows, vases, bottles, frying pans, trestle tables, shrines, tiles, totems, candles, and much, much more!

Master Crafting Writs: To buy crafting stations (both regular and set-related), plans for master-crafted furniture and furnishings, ebony-related items, Target Skeleton plans, and rare furnishing parcels, pay a visit to Rolis Hlaalu, the Mastercraft Mediator. Rolis, who can be found in Wayrest, Mournhold, or Elden Root, takes Master Writs if you’ve completed them. Look at the Crafting section for more information on Master Writs.

Other Activities: You can also find Undaunted busts when looting the final boss of any arena, Trial, or veteran dungeon. Tried murdering or pickpocketing someone for a recipe or other small furnishing item?
