Soul Gems
Empty Soul Gems are used to capture souls. This creates a full Soul Gem, which can be used to revive a player or fully charge a weapon. Purchase full and empty gems from a Mystic Merchant, or receive them as rewards.
When highlighting an enchanted weapon on the Inventory screen, a blue bar indicates its current charge. The enchantment is ineffective when this bar is depleted. At the Inventory screen, select the weapon and choose to charge the weapon. Select the Soul Gem and then charge to complete the process.
When defeated, the Vestige can use a full Soul Gem to revive at the current location. It can also be used to revive a recently deceased player, indicated by a white plus-sign icon. The dead player must accept the resurrection before the Soul Gem is consumed.
Key Fragment
Key Fragments are found in the Imperial City. Gathering 60 grants access to one of the city’s hidden Trophy Vaults; gather 150 to open the Trophy Vaults in the Imperial City Prisons or the White-Gold Tower.
Treasure Maps
A treasure map shows a drawing of a specific location in Tamriel. The name of the treasure map tells you what zone to search in. Equip the map in a quickslot for easy reference. Once the spot is found, interact with the dirt mound to dig for the treasure. This consumes the map.
Survey Reports
A survey report is a random reward for completed writs. It’s similar to a treasure map, but instead of getting a drawing of a certain spot, you get a map that leads you directly to the bounty. A group of materials is ready for you, and only you, to collect. Collecting the resources consumes the survey report.
Master Writs
Master Writs are received as a rare reward after completing a maximum-tier writ. Use the Master Writ to start a new writ, where a relatively complex item must be completed to receive Writ Vouchers. These vouchers can be spent at the Mastercraft Mediator.
Scrolls
Though many scrolls found around Tamriel simply provide lore, some are added to your inventory and provide valuable information or services. Outside of the inn rooms given after completing the housing quest, the Anthology of Abodes Available for Acquisition lists all purchasable houses. For members of the Thieves Guild, a Counterfeit Pardon Edict can often be found inside Thieves Troves.
Treasures
Find treasures on NPCs or in their possessions. They can only be obtained by pickpocketing and stealing, so they must be sold or laundered at a Fence. Get caught with these items and risk having them confiscated.
Find Kari’s Hit List in the Thieves Guild in Abah’s Landing to find locations of 16 Legendary Treasures. These are not worth any gold but can be displayed at the den to complete a quest and earn an Achievement.
Monster Trophies (Collectible)
Many slaughtered enemies randomly drop Monster Trophies. Drop rates vary greatly between mob types, so it can take hundreds of kills to get one. Collect all trophies from a type of enemy to earn the associated Achievements.

Relics
An Orsinium quest directs the player to collect relics hidden throughout Wrothgar, to be displayed at the House of Orsimer Glories Museum.
Furnishings
Furnishings allow the player to decorate a house and are available for purchase from furnishers, or can be created with the appropriate plans and materials. Use the Housing Editor inside a house you own to place the items. There are many furnishings available for purchase with crowns inside the Housing Editor. This also allows you to preview items before purchasing or crafting them.
Many vendors, including Achievement Furnishers, provide unique furnishings that require the player to complete an Achievement before purchasing.
Note that assistants, mounts, and non-combat pets may also be placed inside a house. Defeated final bosses in some dungeons drop a collectible trophy bust, which can be shown off inside your house.

Lockpick
A Lockpick allows the player to pick a locked door, chest, or Safebox, with valuable loot as the reward. Lockpicks may be purchased for nine gold or looted from containers.
Five tumblers must be pushed down to a specific height within a set time limit to open the door or box; the higher the lock difficulty, the less time you have. Listen for a rattling sound or look for the tumbler to vibrate, and quickly release the button. If unsuccessful, remember the position and return the tumbler to that point. Lockpicks break periodically during the process, so always carry a few in your inventory.
A bounty is placed on your head if you’re seen trespassing in a heavily guarded area or stealing from an NPC’s Safebox. Crouching when accessing the lock indicates whether or not the player is hidden.
Glyphs
Glyphs are used to enchant weapons, armor, and jewelry with added stats—such as added Health, reduced Spell Resistance, or Magicka cost of spells. You must use the appropriate glyph for the type of item being enhanced, and only one may be applied at a time to each piece of equipment.
Use an Enchanting Table to create glyphs from Runestones, purchased from an enchanter or harvested from Runestones in the wild.
Bait
Bait must be used at a Fishing Hole to fish that spot. Fishing Holes can be found throughout Tamriel at four types of water: foul water, streams, lakes, and the sea. There are preferred baits for each type.
Baits
| Bait | Preferred In | Where Found |
|---|---|---|
| Chub | Sea | Fish out of lakes |
| Crawlers | Foul Water | Pick plants and loot small spiders |
| Fish Roe | Foul Water | Fish out of streams |
| Guts | Lakes | Loot small animals such as rats and rabbits |
| Insect Parts | Streams | Loot insects such as butterflies, fleshflies, and torchbugs |
| Minnow | Lakes | Fish out of sea |
| Shad | Streams | Fish out of foul water |

| Worms | Sea | Pick plants and loot Zombies |
Rare Fish (Collectible)
Rare fish are rare collectibles fished out of the waters of Tamriel. These fish cannot be filleted, but they do count toward Achievements. Each zone offers an Achievement for collecting all rare fish from that zone. Completing all zones for each faction earns another three Achievements, while completing all fishing Achievements earns Master Fisher. Refer to the Achievements at the Journal tab for your progress.
Repair Kit
Repair Kits allow the player to repair damaged armor wherever they are. These are purchasable from General Merchants. It’s a good idea to carry a couple close to your equipment levels. Select the damaged armor on the Inventory screen and choose to repair it. Select the Repair Kit to mend the item. A lower-level kit can be used, but it doesn’t fully repair the item.
Repair Kits
| Repair Kit | Most Effective On | Cost (Gold) |
|---|---|---|
| Petty Repair Kit | Levels 1 - 9 | 45 |
| Minor Repair Kit | Levels 10 - 19 | 180 |
| Lesser Repair Kit | Levels 20 - 29 | 255 |
| Common Repair Kit | Levels 30 - 39 | 315 |
| Greater Repair Kit | Levels 40 - 49 | 375 |
| Grand Repair Kit | Levels 50+ | 420 |
Pledge of Mara/Ring of Mara
The Pledge of Mara may be purchased from the Crown Store or received from the Imperial Edition. Using this item at a Shrine to Mara with a second player grants a Ring of Mara to each player. An Experience bonus is granted when both players are grouped together and wearing the rings.
Trash
Inevitably, enemies drop items labeled as trash. As you might guess, trash is typically not worth looting when the opportunity arises. It can be sold to vendors, but only nets you a little gold.
Appearance
Receive hats, costumes, skins, and polymorphs by completing Achievements, from rare rewards, and by purchasing through the Crown Store. Slip these items on at the Collections tab to change your appearance. Note that polymorphs hide costumes, hats, and skins. Appearance items often hide armor, but stats are retained.
Disguises
Disguises allow the player to blend into the current surroundings, typically in order to complete a quest. Once equipped, the disguise is placed in the Appearance slot of your apparel and changes your look. If your disguise is discovered, it is often confiscated and you must retrieve another to complete the objective.
Quest Items
Oftentimes, a quest leaves an item in your inventory. While in your possession, they show up under the Quest tab on the Inventory screen. Items such as books and scrolls can be read by using the item.
PVP Siege Equipment
Look for Siege Merchants in Cyrodiil to purchase equipment specifically for the Alliance War. Siege weapons, such as ballistas, battering rams, catapults, and trebuchets, are used against rival factions in the war.
A forward camp creates a site at which 20 fellow teammates can respawn.
