Attacking an NPC instantly adds Bounty and changes your status to Fugitive. Continuing to assault the civilian until death results in a big jump in Bounty. Anything looted from the body is considered stolen. Any assault committed against an NPC results in a kill-on-sight status with the Tamriel Guards, so clear out of the area to avoid their wrath. Join the Dark Brotherhood to receive the Blade of Woe, which gives the player the ability to kill humanoids in one shot—making it possible to get away with murder.
