Key Abilities
| Ability | Description |
|---|---|
|
Puncturing Sweep: Morphed from Puncturing Strikes (Templar > Aedric Spear). This short-range attack can affect multiple targets, healing you based on the damage done. The nearest enemy takes increased damage and suffers a brief snare. It’s your primary attack, and slotting it keeps a useful Aedric Spear ability on your Action Bar. |
|
Elemental Blockade: Morphed from Wall of Elements (Destruction Staff). This area-of-effect ability greatly increases your damage potential. Keep it active whenever possible. |
|
Purifying Light: Morphed from Backlash (Templar > Dawn’s Wrath). This attack deals a bit of Magic Damage, but it also copies all damage the target takes for six seconds, applying up to 20% of it as additional Magic Damage when the effect ends. It’s a great way to contribute to your group’s DPS. |
|
Breath of Life: Morphed from Rushed Ceremony (Templar > Restoring Light). This ability heals you or a wounded ally. It also grants a smaller heal to an additional target. Use it as needed, but be mindful of the Magicka cost. |
|
Solar Prison: Morphed from Nova (Templar > Dawn’s Wrath). This ranged Ultimate Ability deals Magic Damage to enemies within the targeted area. It also afflicts enemies with Minor Maim, reducing their damage done by 30% for the duration of the effect. Additionally, an ally can activate the Gravity Crush Synergy, damaging and stunning all enemies in the area. |
This is your attack Bar. It also holds one of your more useful healing abilities. Whether you’re on your own or healing for a group, try to spend the bulk of your time using these abilities. Use the remaining slot to add any ability you feel is helpful.
Bar 2: Restoration Staff
Key Abilities
| Ability | Description |
|---|---|
|
Blazing Spear: Morphed from Spear Shards (Templar > Aedric Spear). This ranged area-of-effect attack does a bit of damage, but it’s really used for its featured Synergy. While the effect is active, an ally can use Blessed Shards to restore a good amount of Magicka or Stamina, depending on their highest resource. It’s one of your most important support skills, so make good use of it. |
|
Ritual of Retribution: Morphed from Cleansing Ritual (Templar > Restoring Light). Cleanses you of up to two harmful effect and heals you and nearby allies for the duration of the effect. Additionally, enemies in the area take Magic Damage, and allies can activate the Purify Synergy. This allows them to cleanse themselves of all harmful effects and receive additional healing. |
|
Rapid Regeneration: Morphed from Regeneration (Restoration Staff). Grants a heal-over-time effect to you or up to two nearby allies. |
|
Combat Prayer: Morphed from Blessing of Protection (Restoration Staff). Use this ability to heal yourself and allies in front of you. Those affected also gain Minor Berserk, Minor Resolve, and Minor Ward, increasing damage done, Physical Resistance, and Spell Resistance. |
|
Aggressive Horn: Morphed from War Horn (Assault). Increases the Maximum Magicka, Health, and Stamina of you and your allies by 10%. Affected targets also gain Major Force, temporarily increasing the damage and healing done by Critical Strikes. This is an excellent support skill, and should be your Ultimate Ability of choice during boss encounters. |
This is your support Bar. Use it to apply buffs, share resources, and initiate heal-over-time effects. The remaining slot can be used to add any ability you might find helpful.
Priority Passives
The Light Weaver Passive Ability only affects specific Restoring Light abilities—none of which are used in the default loadout. Other than that, invest in all core Passives and move on from there.
Equipment Recommendations
| Weapons |
|---|
| Priority Trait: Sharpened |
| Priority Enchantment: Spell Damage |
| For your main weapon, use the best Lightning Staff you can find. The Sharpened trait is your best option for damage—and a Spell Damage enchantment would be nice—but any high-quality staff should help you do reliable damage until you’re able to obtain a nice set piece or something from the Maelstrom. |
| You’ll always want a Restoration Staff as your backup weapon. Given the choice, look for staves that feature traits like Precise, Powered, or Decisive. As far as enchantments go, Absorb Magicka tends to be useful. |
| Armor |
|---|
| Priority Trait: Divines |
| Priority Enchantment: Maximum Magicka |
| Always equip at least five pieces of light armor. The related Passives grant you some very important benefits. If you’ve invested in the Undaunted Mettle Passive Ability, you’ll probably want to equip medium/heavy armor pieces in the remaining slots. |
| Equipment that grants suitable set bonuses is always your best option. Look for light armor that offers Maximum Magicka enchantments as you work toward obtaining high-level gear. Divines tends to be the most useful trait for PvE content, but Infused can be very effective on head, chest, and leg pieces. |
| Jewelry |
|---|
| Priority Trait: Arcane |
| Priority Enchantment: Reduce Spell Cost |
| Until you manage to track down useful set pieces, use anything that reduces the Magicka cost of your spells. |
