The largest settlement in northwest Vvardenfell, Gnisis is a town close to the coast, just south of a maze-like valley of rope-bridges and pathways, and atop a large egg mine. It’s dominated by a temple structure. There are three scattered treasure chests in the vicinity, as well as a Mages Guild book over at Drivam’s House, which is where it’s listed.

Drivam’s House
Find this location by the docks. It’s covered in the previous entry of this Atlas.
Arvs-Drelen
This old Velothi tower stands close to the large rock arch on the threshold of the western entrance to Gnisis. The interior cannot be breached.
The Resting Kwama
The watering hole at Gnisis has an Innkeeper named Bolayn Andalor who can ply you with drink. There’s also a Lorebook to snag, and Traldrisa Marys is here, playing the lute. Check downstairs for a wine cellar and a couple of bedrooms.
Romoren’s House
| Warning: | Restricted Area (Trespassing) |
There’s little need to barge into this family’s home… but you can.
Gnisis Wayshrine
This marks the southern threshold and bridge into Gnisis, and is detailed elsewhere in this chapter. Note the Silt Strider nearby.
Gnisis Temple
The landmark temple houses the Mystic of Gnisis, Evylu Nethalen, along with her acolyte. The well-to-do Iidari Andavel is upstairs on the large circular library balcony.
Lathdar’s House
| Warning: | Restricted Area (Trespassing) |
If you fancy yourself a bit of a thief, feel free to enter this small dwelling unannounced. You’ll need to unlock the door (Intermediate difficulty) first, though.
Shandasi’s House
| Warning: | Restricted Area (Trespassing) |
With its firm lock (Advanced difficulty), accessing this dwelling requires a Lockpick. Inside, Shulki Shandasi isn’t pleased by your antics.
Gnisis Egg Mine
| Entities: | Dwarven Automatons, Dwarven Centurions, Kwama, Scrib |
| Related Quest: | A Melodic Mistake, Hatching a Plan |
Seek out the quest before entering this mine, over a small rope-bridge on the northeast area of town.
Interior (Gnisis Egg Mine): Kwama scuttle along this series of tunnel caverns and interlocking passages. Head northward into a glowing tunnel, and the atmosphere becomes a lot more clanking and Dwarven. You’re able to maneuver into the lost ruins of Bethamez, a Dwemer area.
Interior (Egg Nursery): This chamber of eggs is accessed only during Quest: Hatching a Plan.
Interior (Bethamez): Expect Centurions and other Dwarven constructs to waylay your exploration along the northern part of this interior. The winding passage leads across a furnace chamber and into a huge cavern with a large tower-like structure—the sanctum.
Interior (Dwarven Sanctum and Tunnels): Pass through a resonator chamber and into exit tunnels that bring you out to the Mysterious Ruin (shown elsewhere in this chapter).
Egg Mine Barracks
Soldiers stationed here to guard the egg mine offer little more than passing comments. The real action is inside the mine.
