Explore the expansive land of Tamriel to discover Wayshrines. Once discovered, these shrines appear on the map, providing a means of fast travel for the player. Interact with a Wayshrine to bring up the map, and then select a Wayshrine icon close to your desired destination. Moving between two Wayshrines in this manner does not cost anything. It is possible to quickly teleport to one of these points from anywhere, but it will cost a certain amount of gold, which is shown when highlighting the Wayshrine. This price increases greatly just after you use a Wayshrine, before cooling down to the regular amount, which is based on current level.
When the player dies, he/she is given the choice of reviving at the current location by using a full Grand Soul Gem, or reviving at the nearest Wayshrine. Wayshrines are also found inside dungeons to limit travel time back inside.
