The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind eGuide Adventuring Across Tamriel Dark Anchors (Dolmens)

About Dark Anchors

Molag Bal uses Dolmens, located throughout much of Tamriel, to fasten his Dark Anchors in an attempt to pull Nirn into Coldharbour. Worm Cultists perform a ritual at the site, bringing the Anchor crashing down in exchange for a sacrifice. Once attached, the cultists are randomly dragged into the air, eventually replaced with new followers. Any players in the area may take part in this world event, fighting the antagonists responsible for the invasion. This is the first of three phases, which, upon completion, rewards those who participated with an instanced chest.

Active Dark Anchors are visible from distant lands.

Three Dolmens exist within nearly every zone of Tamriel. Cyrodiil holds ten Dark Anchor points, while no Dolmens are found in the starter zones , Craglorn, Wrothgar, Hew’s Bane, Gold Coast, and Vvardenfell.

The Fighters Guild offers daily quests that require the player to destroy three dolmens in a given zone.

Dolmens are activated when a player gets within range, beginning the Worm Cultists’ ritual. A loud noise announces the incoming Dark Anchor with a scene that is visible from far away. Anyone may join the event, with an Achievement available for destroying all Dark Anchors in each zone. Completing these events also levels up your Fighters Guild rank and is required for their quest line.

If left alone, the six Worm Cultists continue the ritual, with members being randomly pulled into the air, only to be replaced with more Worm Cultists. Killing these followers causes four Anchor Pinions to appear around the Dolmen. Normal- and elite-level Daedra and Undead drop in from the portal above, damaging players caught in their landing areas.

Killing the Daedra and Undead fills the four Anchor Pinions, one at a time.

Defeating the Daedra and Undead fills up the first Anchor Pinion with their animi, with elite mobs adding twice as much per kill. The Pinion opens once full as the enemy spirits begin to fill the next pinion. A player must approach each open Anchor Pinion and interact with it to destroy it. Each time this is done, the Health, Magicka, and Stamina for all nearby players are fully restored. Destroying all four pinions completes the second phase of the event.

As Molag Bal taunts the players, a boss is summoned to the Dolmen with a complement of tougher Daedra and Undead. Instead of one of the standard bosses, there’s a small chance that one of Molag Bal’s generals makes an appearance. An Achievement is earned by defeating each general, and another for destroying them all. The spirits from this final wave fill the fifth and final Anchor Pinion at the base of the Dark Anchor. Destroying this trap reveals a chest, available to all players who participated.

There’s a chance that one of Molag Bal’s generals makes an appearance during the final wave.
