The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind eGuide Training Leveling

Leveling

In order to improve your character’s skill set and equipment and become more powerful, you must increase your level by earning Experience (XP). Completing quests, discovering new locations, killing enemies, picking locks, finishing a location’s objective, running dungeons, and taking part in world events earn XP. You do not necessarily need to make the killing blow to get Experience. Assist in battles, even with friendly heals, to earn Experience.

Earn Experience for every kill.

The following table shows the amounts of XP a player must accumulate to reach the next level, up to the maximum level of 50. Each increase in level earns the player a Skill Point as well as an Attribute Point that can be used to increase Maximum Magicka, Health, or Stamina. Every level that ends in five grants two Attribute Points, while multiples of 10 give three. Skill points are also awarded by collecting Skyshards, completing certain quests, and gaining alliance ranks in the Alliance War.

This table also gives the approximate amount of XP gained from completing a standard quest. Most quests fall under this classification, but there are easy quests that reward less and tougher challenges, such as dungeons, that give even more Experience. There is a maximum amount of XP that can be gained at once, based on the XP required to reach the next level, so it is possible not to receive the full reward.

Apparel and weapons received and found are scaled to the player’s level. A weapon rewarded for completing a quest has the same enchantment, trait, and name no matter who collects it, but level—and therefore the item’s stats—are modified to match the player’s level. Consumables are also collected with a level near your current level. In order to equip a piece of gear or use a consumable, your level must be equal to or greater than the level of the item.

Experience Buffs

There are several ways to obtain an Experience buff in Elder Scrolls Online. Note that most can be stacked.

  • Purchase a Crown Experience Scroll from the Crown Store for 300 crowns. This gives a 50% boost in XP for two hours. Cannot be stacked with the Psijic Ambrosia consumable.
  • Craft a Psijic Ambrosia consumable for a 50% Experience boost for 30 minutes. Cannot be stacked with an Experience Scroll.
  • Participate in a Ritual of Mara with a partner. This gives a 10% XP boost as long you fight with the same player and you both wear your Rings of Mara.
  • ESO Plus members receive a 10% increase in Experience for as long as they are members.
  • The Training trait, which can be placed on armor and weapons, gives an added XP buff. The amount of the boost is dependent upon how many and which items have the trait.
  • Group with other players for a 10% XP buff.
  • In the Alliance War, keeps owned by your Alliance give an Experience boost of 5-15%, based on the number of keeps captured. This buff only applies to monster and player kills.

Veteran

Once the maximum level of 50 is attained, XP no longer accrues toward your player level, as veteran content is unlocked. The Champion System takes over, with 10 points given right away. Champion Points continue to be rewarded as you keep making kills and completing objectives. Champion Points can be assigned to one of three constellations, each with a unique selection of stat and ability bonuses.

Champion Points are assigned into one of three constellations.

Attribute and Skill Points are no longer rewarded, but Maximum Magicka, Health, and Stamina are increased slightly. Refer to our Champions section for details on how the Champion System functions.
