Consumables are removed from your inventory once they’re expended. They can be used directly from your inventory, but quickslots allow for swifter access to many items. Potions, poisons, food, and drink are more effective when usable during a fight. This quick access makes this possible. Placing a treasure map in one of the slots allows you to reference the picture often while searching for the loot.
Potions and Poisons
Potions provide a benefit to the player, such as restore Health/Magicka/Stamina, add a buff, or grant invisibility. Poisons cause a negative effect on your target, such as Poison Damage, increasing ability cost, or reducing movement speed. Quickslot some potions for easy usage against tougher opponents. Poisons must be applied to a weapon. Use Alchemy Stations to create your own potions and poisons.
Food and Drink
Foods increase your Maximum Health, Magicka, and/or Stamina for a period of time, while drinks increase recovery of the three. A selection of food and drinks can be purchased from Merchants, but most must be created at a Cooking Fire with the corresponding recipe. Purchase or find recipes and increase your Provisioning skill line for more powerful provisions.

Fish
Use bait to interact with Fishing Holes, located all around Tamriel, and catch fish. These fish can be sold to Merchants for a small chunk of change or used for fillets. These fillets are used in certain Provisioning recipes. There is a rare chance to receive Perfect Roe, used in crafting experience-boosting drinks, when filleting a fish.
Containers
Unidentified Equipment
Found in shops and given as rewards, these containers hold an unidentified weapon or piece of armor. Blacksmiths, Clothiers, and Carpenters sell a selection of appropriate equipment containers. Special vendors, such as the Regional Equipment Vendor found in Cyrodiil, sell higher-level equipment inside containers. These are often from sets, while those from normal vendors are never set items. Your level must be equal to or greater than the level indicated on the item description to open the container. If indicated in the description, the contents are bound to your character once collected.

After completing a consumable or equipment crafting writ, the goods must be delivered to the indicated location. The goods are exchanged for the appropriate container, which can be used to receive items related to that crafting discipline. If the reward is from a top-tier writ, a Master Writ may be rewarded.
Shipments of Materials
Materials are a popular reward from completed writs. Open the container to receive a load of the indicated raw material.
Furnishing Plans
Furnishing plans are found inside containers, purchased from Merchants, dropped by enemies, or by pickpocketing NPCs. These plans are used at the appropriate station to create furnishings for housing. Note that higher-quality plans may require multiple trade skills with required ranks in specific Passive Abilities.
