Go from a normal standing position to a crouch by entering Sneak Mode. Note the on-screen target transformation and description of how successful you are at staying out of sight. Your noise levels are reduced as well as your visibility, and you’re better able to avoid being detected. This comes at the expense of your speed. The following on-screen cues are of importance:
The eye of stealth: Instead of a crosshair, your display becomes an eye, which changes depending on your status:
- “Hidden”: This word and a line underneath indicate you are properly hidden from enemies.
- “Eye-Opening”: If a foe is attempting to search for you, or you’re closing in on an enemy, the eye begins to open. You’re seen when it fully opens, so evade to remain hidden.
- “Detected”: An open eye with this word means you’re seen by a nearby foe. It’s usually worth standing up at this point!
- Stamina: Note your Stamina bar depletes while you’re crouched, so bear this in mind when attempting stealth maneuvers and attacks. Mitigate this Stamina-sapping by utilizing some sets.
Certain abilities can only be activated while you’re sneaking.
